  • MWH 223 : How To Increase Focus Without Having More Time
How To Increase Focus Without Having More Time

Let's talk about the "F" word... Focus!

Women in business can easily get caught up believing that all we need is more time in order to grow their business. And that’s simply not true!

I’m here to tell you that you can grow your business between nap times and bells. All you need to do is focus.

So this week, I’m sharing the top three reasons why business owners become unfocused and how you can increase your focus without having more time.

    Let’s get into it!
    KEY TAKEAWAYS:
    >> [0:32] Mums With Hustle is an online learning community supporting mothers in starting, growing, and scaling businesses that make them feel good, makes them money, and helps them make an impact in the world.

    >> [1:13] I wanted to jump onto the podcast and talk to you about the “F” word... Focus! A lot of women in business are juggling a lot and the mental load that they are carrying is huge.

    >> [2:15] A lot of the time can get caught up believing that all we need is more time. And that’s simply not true! You can grow your business between nap times and between bells. You do not need to live in a constant state of overwhelm.

    >> [3:04] What I’m sharing in this episode is the top three reasons why business owners become unfocused. And when we’re unfocused, we’re overwhelmed, we’re not making the best decisions, and we’re not able to access the higher functioning parts of our brain that actually develop our businesses.

    >> [4:46] The first step to creating a new habit is to be able to identify the behavior you want to change.
THE 3 BIGGEST REASONS YOU'RE LACKING FOCUS
    >> [5:36] Reason number three you may lack focus is because of fancy procrastination. This is basically when you go into a state where you make sure everything around you is pristine. If you’re working from home, this can include the household (e.g. when I’ve caught up on the laundry, when I’ve made dinner, etc.).

    >> [7:08] Number two is comparing yourself to others! This is a big one because it makes you question your own worth. When you do this, you fall into the trap of comparison syndrome and that derails you from your focus. Have you ever found yourself looking sideways at what someone is doing in their business? That takes you away from your business!

    >> [8:29] The main reason business owners lack focus is because they don’t know what to focus on. They’re just winging it while trying to piece together all of the free knowledge out there.
    CLASSIC SIGNS OF LACKING FOCUS
    >> [10:09] There are some classic signs of being unfocused (e.g. being overwhelmed, questioning every decision, wondering what you should be doing next).

    >> [10:28] Feel free to journal if you’d like by writing this question at the top of the page: “How will you know if you are focused? What will it look and feel like for you?”

    >> [11:04] You’ll know that you’re focused when you’re getting the right stuff done in your business. Another way that you’ll know that you’re focused when you’re feeling a greater sense of clarity, motivation, productivity, and great results. You’ll also know that you’re focussed when you have less doubts.

    >> [12:27] Another question to ask yourself is, “What do you need to be able to create more focus?” Hopefully, you don’t believe you need more time because we can have oodles and oodles of time and not use it wisely. You should meditate on this question.
    THE WRAP UP
    >> [13:34] I want you to bring more focus into your business because it will bring you growth. One thing I know I need is accountability in order to stay focused.

    >> [14:35] Give yourself permission to claim what you really need in order to keep your focus and stay productive.

  • MWH 221 : 5 Ways To Balance Working From Home When Your Kids Are There with Serena Ryan
5 Ways To Balance Working From Home When Your Kids Are There

When you’re a work at home mum it can be hella hard to find that elusive balance between entrepreneurship and motherhood, especially when your children are on school holidays. Trust me, I know.

It’s important to embrace finding ways to strike YOUR perfect balance ’cause what works for me, won’t necessarily work for you.

And that’s why I’ve brought today’s guest onto the podcast today because she’s managing the balancing act of being an entrepreneur and homeschooling!

    Today’s guest is Serena Ryan!

Serena is an entrepreneur and homeschooling mama living in the tiny state of Delaware in the US, that values freedom and family time. She left her nursing career to help her husband with their business and to stay home with their boys. She simultaneously became passionate about all things online marketing and homeschooling. Serena and Andy are Launch Coaches that run a group coaching program called, “Let’s Launch”.

In 2017 she also decided to take her passion for homeschooling and create “The Confident Homeschooler” to empower and encourage other parents that want to get started homeschooling but are completely overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin.

During this episode, Serena is going to dive into why she chose homeschooling, how she manages the balancing act of being an entrepreneur and homeschooling, her best tips for toddlers/young children to play/learn independently and how to successfully run a beta launch.

    Let’s get into it!
    KEY TAKEAWAYS:
    >> [0:33] Working from home with children at home doesn’t have to be difficult! It’s important to find the ways that work for you 'because what works for me, won’t necessarily work for you.

    >> [1:32] Today’s guest is Serena Ryan! Serena is an entrepreneur and homeschooling mama living in the tiny state of Delaware in the US, that values freedom and family time. She left her nursing career to help her husband with their business and to stay home with their boys.
    ABOUT TODAY’S GUEST:
    >> [2:13] In 2017, Serena also decided to take her passion for homeschooling and create “The Confident Homeschooler” to empower and encourage other parents that want to get started homeschooling but are completely overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin

    >> [2:53] During this episode, Serena is going to dive into why she chose homeschooling, how she manages the balancing act of being an entrepreneur and homeschooling, her best tips for toddlers/young children to play/learn independently and how to successfully run a beta launch.

    >> [4:40] Serena left her career as a registered nurse because she wanted to be home with them so badly. She got thrown into the entrepreneurial life with her husband.
WHAT DOES SERENA MEAN WHEN SHE SAYS “ONLINE LAUNCH”?
    >> [6:55] A launch is an event when your product is available for purchase! Whereas a full online launch is the process and marketing plan that occurs before, during, and even after opening the “doors” to your product, whether that be a mastermind, group coaching, a membership site, a course, or other offer.

    >> [8:50] We have several ladies in our Inner Circle Mastermind who start planning their launches waaaay in advance.

    WHY DID SERENA CHOOSE HOMESCHOOLING
    >> [9:38] Serena is definitely an unlikely homeschooler who never in a million years thought she’d be doing the same thing. For her family, their biggest reason for homeschooling was freedom and flexibility.

    >> [11:49] Since beginning this journey, it has also opened Serena’s eyes to what education means to her and all of the other unconventional ways to instill a love of learning in your children.

    >> [12:45] Everyone has their own reason for wanting to homeschool.

“What I'd like to know is how to attract patients to my private practice. I am a psychologist. I cannot use prices to lure patients according to our council. So, what is the best way to advertise and how should I do that?”

    >> [3:55] I’m going to assume that you would be in Stage One of the Social Method. I call those ladies my “Social Go-Getters”.

    BE ON INSTAGRAM FOR BUSINESS
    >> [9:58] As an IG business account you will be able to accept bookings, too. You can also add an email contact button and share your phone number, right in your bio!!
WHAT YOUR INSTAGRAM BIO SHOULD DO
    >> [10:50] Finally, your IG bio should send them somewhere!!! When you’re setting up your profile or even if you want to edit your profile, you’ll see an option to add a link to your website.

    >> [11:23] You’ll be able to send people to this link via your captions in your post. This is what people are doing when they say “click the link in my bio” or “click the link in my profile.”
