The narcissistic FOG targets of narcissists get entrapped in and remain so post discard or when the relationship is long gone, is difficult to explain away using the school of psychology alone. The narcissist is actually best explained in analogous terms as a spiritual criminal or sole thief/trader, such is the inexplicable hold they exert over their supply sources, ie human beings. It is noticeable to loved ones of a target of a covert narcissist, that while they remain physically present throughout the relationship with their narcissistic partner they don’t appear themselves or to be present in spirit. Also, despite logically knowing the narcissist is out to destroy a person, it appears difficult for their former partners/targets to escape the pull of a narcissist even returning to the relationship, despite knowing it’s not a good move. The narcissist’s discard is a most devastating experience initially, comes out of left field, and is dished out to their target at the worst possible time and usually in the cruelest of ways. Overcoming and recovering from such an emotionally, psychologically, spiritually and sometimes physically devastating life event can at first appear insurmountable. Akin to an NDE in terms of soul challenging, it can however be turned on its head and used to great advantage by a narcissists former partner, friend, or family member. Recovering from and reversing the narcissistic discard is totally possible, is highly recommended, and the results of such a reversal are exceptionally rewarding in a healing capacity. Harnessing the power of this painful experience with a narcissist and utilizing that energy for personal freedom and, as a transformative breakthrough out of the matrix so to speak, becomes a blessing. The physical effect of such an escape is oftentimes, a narcissist looking to return to the relationship quicker than their normal cycle would predict. God’s armor is advised during this transformative time of personal recovery to deflect and protect the light within.

In order to depersonalise our interactions with full blown covert narcissist, it’s important to understand how they operate and their thought processes as related to their targets. In understanding why they act towards others and say and do destructive things, that we can find healing from the emotional suffering they insist on to regulate themselves. Narcissists follow a major behaviour cyclical pattern, lovebombing, devaluation, discard and hoover on repeat. However, there are also cycles within cycles of behaviour patterns and dynamics on repeat, just as the smaller cogs turn the bigger ones and so the outer wheel of the personality disordered narcissist turns. The manner in which a narcissist acts with their target is cyclical and predictable on repeat. Understanding this objectification and repetitive behaviour may help others depersonalise their experience and expedite healing.

The final devaluation of a covert narcissist’s intimate partner is often disguised as a new initiative to improve their lives or positive affirmation of the relationship to the narcissist’s source of supply. In actual fact it is generally the narcissist blame shifting the failure of the relationship and their own personal failure 💯 onto their partner. They begin to distance themselves within the relationship from the falsely perceived source of failure by encouraging their partner to achieve their goals and taking space from the narcissist. The narcissist fully expects this move to produce the failure of their partner to succeed and come running back to them more fully under control. The narcissist actually believes the delusional reality that they themselves are both blameless and superior and will use the space/distance created from their partner to seek out new supply more deserving of the narcissist’s attention.

(Where do you go to my lovely) a well know song brings to mind the manipulation tactics used by covert narcissists to reap narcissistic supply and bring their targets/intimate partners totally under their control. The partner of a covert narcissist appears to their loved ones as not having altered in their outward identity presentation but their soul seems to have disappeared. It is such a hard phenomenon to describe as it’s such an elusive idea to attempt to structure with tangible substance. Targets of narcissists often think they are happy in the relationship initially but are tricked into a very illusory reality similar to an intoxicated state. In this state logic evades them and their loved ones often can’t figure out where their soul, essence and spirit have disappeared to, they seem inaccessible. The bubble existence or matrix created by the narcissist is systematically feeding off their current supply target/host while at the same time imprisoning them in a somewhat emotionally and psychologically drugged reality.

Narcissists do indeed regret losing grade A narcissistic supply, just in a different way to how a normal living human being might imagine. When searching for education on a healing journey after an enmeshment with a narcissist use discernment in your information gathering process. I cannot emphasise strongly enough how narcissists no matter how talented they maybe at providing assistance to our community, are at the end of the day personality disordered. Narcissists by definition will not wish to be described in very malignant terms as they are excellent at disassociating from their behaviour ie. Lacking accountability (even intellectually). In general they poh poh spirituality as they mainly deal in black and white/cause and effect terms. It is a powerful component to healing for targets of narcissists to embrace their own in-ate spirituality to heal and rise beyond the dark experience that envelops narcissistic relationships. Calling a ‘spade a spade’ and not negating or gaslighting the experience of human beings who sense the dark side of a narcissist and their destructive behaviours is vital to a wholesome healing experience and for the rising of a crushed human spirit. Believe what you’ve been through in all its components and validate your experience. What you see you saw, what you hear you heard and know you are more than a psychological definition and physical presence.
