Attending a major summit in Paris, Chinese Premier Li Qiang called for finding creative solutions to global challenges.Li pledged China would continue to take steps to support its fellow developing countries, including getting engaged in debt relief efforts.
The summit hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron aimed to find financial solutions to the interconnected global goals of tackling poverty and climate change. Addressing the meeting, UN chief Antonio Guterres said the global financial system was failing to rise to modern challenges and now “perpetuates and even worsens inequalities”. In fact, it is precisely a widespread complaint about the existing financial system that paved the way for the summit.
