We get down to the nitty gritty of the amendments on the Residential Tenancy Act and discuss what it means for landlords and tenants everywhere in NZ.
Many of the changes cited are quite reasonable especially those that protect renters' from abuse from their own households and by rogue landlords but a number of the other provisions under the RTA also leave well-meaning landlords very prone to difficult circumstances.
Our discussion aims to take ground the public's expectations of the government policy as well as assist landlords in adjusting to the drastic alterations ahead.

Humans are creatures of habit. As proof of our preference for routine, generations have thrived on folklore as an attempt to explain how the world works. And while stories keep our sense of wonder alive, they're not the most credible reference when investing in property.
Today, we discuss traditional beliefs about capital growth, debt structuring and other concepts while taking apart the truth from the myths surrounding the housing market.

A listener asked us if there is such a thing as luck in investing and whether there is a universal formula to guarantee a winning streak when it comes to dealing with property.
Luck, (that random positive encounter with chance) plays little to no contribution to good investing outcomes and that universal formula used by successful investors everywhere is just a two-part recipe: knowledge and hard work.
In this episode, we're here to give you a nudge to forget about that "get rich quick" scheme that you see circulating online and hand you doable, objective and proven principles to keep your grounded. Once you get the fundamentals right, distractions become easier to avoid.

Over the last 70 years, the World Bank has recorded four global recessions: 1975, 1982, 1991, and 2009. Of the four incidences, the 2009 Global Financial Crisis that was set off by a housing bubble may have been the most systematic and deeply felt decline in recent history (right before the Covid-19 pandemic). While it wounded many industries, it also paved the way for a more credit conscious society and urged financial institutions to create buffers.
This week, Property Apprentice discusses tried-and-tested measures to support your property investment journey even in the most uncertain times. We have included visual references in this video.

Can I move houses now? Am I allowed to do property viewings? What is the best thing to do if my tenant has an urgent repair request? Certainly, restrictions have loosened up to allow people to resume to some activities prior to the lockdown but this does not mean that it has become completely safe to let our guards down.
