PT Pintcast - Physical Therapy

Tayo Akinboboye is currently a second-year physical therapy student at Ithaca College. Prior to graduate school, he received his B.S. in Clinical Health Studies and B.A. in Spanish.

While in graduate school, he helped create a new student organization, Ithaca College Physical Therapy Students of Color (ICPTSOC), which was led by founder Dr. Efosa Erhunmwunse.

In November 2020, he was elected to serve as the Nominating Committee Chair-Elect of the Student Assembly Board of Directors for the 2020-2021 term. He has interests in sports and orthopedics and hopes to become a Sports PT in the future.

Tayo is passionate about bringing change to the profession, starting with the lack of diversity. Representation truly matters, and he hopes to inspire young students to pursue a career in physical therapy.

Carrie Callahan is a physical therapist who has dedicated her career to SCI rehabilitation. She is the president and co-founder along with Jessica Goodine of Empower Spinal Cord Injury, running residential rehabilitation programs in New York and Montana each summer to provide outdoor adaptive sports for those with SCI. We also have Steph Romano, Eli Ramos, and Tony Chamberlain from the Empower team to join this episode!

Back in 2019, we got a chance to talk to USA Rugby team member Chuck Aoki.

I’m an admitted Olympics and Paralympics GEEK so having chuck on for some cool behind-the-scenes insights was really fun for me… I did also ask him one question that had always been on my mind, but I never had the comfort level to actually ask….

Chuck was super chill and that made me comfortable enough to ask… it had to do with the terms olympian versus Paralympian.
