  • 117: Why Roofers Must Do What They Say & Say What They Do with Jim DelPrete

Beantown Home Improvements is a family-owned and operated business built around "old school" values serving the New England area. The President of the company, Jim DelPrete comes from a long line of builders and construction workers, who have served much the South Shore of Massachusetts. His grandfather, Albert DelPrete, owned & operated DelPrete Construction founded in 1947. This company, which was one of the largest of its time and employed several hundred local workers, not only built hundreds of homes in Massachusetts but was also responsible for building all of the original sea walls from Cape Cod to New Hampshire. Fast forward 30+ years and several of Albert’s children; David, Patsy, Mary, and Paul (Jim’s father) all owned their own construction companies, and several of their children still build new homes today. What really sets the company apart is, they don't sell, they consult. They meet with clients and listen, they don't pitch. They show up on time, say what they do and do what they say, and stand behind that. Pretty simple and straightforward, yet so many roofing contractors just can't get this right.

On this episode we talk about why roofers must do what they say and say what they do.

  • 115: Why Your Roofing Business Needs an End Goal with Adam Olson

Adam Olson, owner of Heartland Roofing and Siding was born and raised in Central Iowa. He entered the workforce not knowing what he wanted to do. Adam was fortunate to get a job in residential construction sales that took him from Central Iowa to Chicago and then to Minneapolis before ending back in Central Iowa. Throughout this experience, he learned a lot about the industry but also saw a huge opportunity. The industry standard of how customers are treated was lacking. Adam saw an experience that should be easy, straightforward, and exciting for a homeowner, but as an industry in general, too often he saw poor workmanship, lack of professionalism, and most of all, lack of communication. From there, Adam decided to start Heartland. That decision changed his life in ways he can’t even describe, and watching it grow each year has been incredibly rewarding. In his free time, Adam loves spending time with his wife and their four boys. Needless to say, there is never a dull moment in their house because the boys never seem to run out of energy!

On this episode we talk about having an end goal for your roofing company.
