Seahawks Forever w/ Dan Viens

Three tackles were taken in the top 10 of the 2022 NFL Draft on Thursday night with the third going to the John Schneider, Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks. Charles Cross may have been third off the board, but he was Samuel R. Gold's pick to join the Seahawks when he did his final mock draft this week (and that was in a mock where Evan Neal was the only tackle not available). Sam talks about why he liked Cross over Ikem Ekwonu particular based on the fit for the Seahawks offensive scheme and dissects why scouts were down on Cross for his run blocking. Could the Seahawks take a quarterback at the top of the second round? We discuss three names as well as some other fits for Seattle to start Day 2 of the NFL Draft.

The first round of the NFL Draft is tomorrow and the Seahawks are scheduled to be on the clock early in the first round. What if Seattle finds itself in a nightmare scenario with many of the top prospects off the board that would best address their needs? We talk about where we'd like to see the team go while working through the different options. We discuss the prospect of the Seahawks trading back and the latest first pick that we'd want to see them take. Plus, some day 2 picks we'd be interested in for Seattle.

With the 2022 NFL Draft starting on Thursday this week, general manager John Schneider and Pete Carroll met with Seattle area reporters. Schneider talked about his approach to the draft in grading players to fit team needs and compared the energy surrounding the draft to 2012 when they picked Bruce Irvin, Bobby Wagner and Russell Wilson. Pete and John also shared their favorite calls that they've made to players to let them know they're about to be selected by the Seahawks.

With both starting tackles from 2021 still out on the open market as free agents, it's possible that we see multiple picks on the offensive line for the Seahawks on draft day. EJ Snyder of Bootleg Football talks about his top five players at tackle and why he likes one of the tackles mocked to Seattle as a guard instead. We discuss a tackle prospect that could be a good value if he falls to the fourth round as some analysts have him projected, but EJ likes him as an early Day 2 pick. We also talk about a tackle who would tower over his fellow countryman punter if the Seahawks decide to draft him.

The biggest needs on offense for the Seahawks right now are on the offensive line. Maybe not necessarily at guard with Gabe Jackson and Damien Lewis on the roster and they also added veteran help at center with Austin Blythe. There are some prospects at center and guard who could be immediate upgrades if they are picked in the first round and down the draft board are players who could ultimately take over those spots. EJ Snyder of Bootleg Football joins the show to offer his evaluation of several players projected to play on the interior of the line.

Could the Seahawks draft a tight end with any of their first three picks? Based on this class and their other needs, it is not likely to happy. EJ Snyder of Bootleg football joins the show to explain why Seattle may want to avoid the top end of the class. We talk about his top pick for tight and as well as one player down the board who could fill multiple roles for the team including special teams.

Do the Seahawks need to draft a wide receiver with one of their first three picks? As it stands right now, they do not. But if DK Metcalf or Tyler Lockett were to get traded, that would renew the need. EJ Snyder provides us with the information on who would be draft targets starting April 28th. He talks about his top picks and receiver and also some late round players who could provide the Seahawks with a special teams boost that they've been missing.

After trading Russell Wilson to the Broncos, we should expect the Seahawks to focus on building a dominant run game. But with Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny's injury history, it shouldn't be out of the question for Seattle to draft running back early this year. How early though? EJ Snyder of Bootleg Football joins the show and says the expectation is that no running backs get drafted in the first round. Will Seattle be able to take their favorite from this class? We talk about EJ's favorite three backs as well as some players farther down the draft board.

Could the Seahawks take a quarterback in the top 10 of the 2022 NFL Draft to help find the quarterback to replace Russell Wilson? EJ Snyder of Bootleg Football joins the show to talk about who could make sense for the Seahawks between Malik Willis and Matt Corrall if they go that way with their first pick. Or could it be another player who was in Seattle to visit with the team this week? EJ talks about why Desmond Ridder has taken the place of Kenny Pickett as one of the other names who could be drafted in the first round. If the Seahawks decide to wait until later rounds, we talk about some of the players who could be targeted in the second and third rounds. Subscribe to the show to tune in this week as we'll be talking draft almost every day leading up to April 28th.

The Seattle Seahawks are set to pick in the top 10 for the first time since 2010. Since it was Pete Carroll's first year with the team, he didn't even have anything to do with the team picking that early. Where should to Seahawks go with the pick? Defense early and often? Go ahead and find the future quarterback? Or should they build an offensive line that is losing both starting tackles from last season? We bring in some picks based on listener suggestions on social media and discuss a potential draft strategy for the team and how it could impact the franchise moving forward.
