Holidays are meant to be enjoyed... so why do so many of us spend them worrying about food?
Whether it's a family holiday, Halloween, Christmas or simply a weekend away, it's easy to fall into the trap of thinking we've "blown it" and need to start again on Monday.
In this episode, I chat with the lovely Emma Isaacs about finding balance when life gets busy. Emma is a freelance designer, works with well-known brands, is raising a young family and understands just how difficult it can be to juggle work, children and trying to look after yourself at the same time.
We talk honestly about holiday temptations, making time to switch off and why healthy living doesn't have to mean saying no to everything you enjoy.
One of the things I love about this conversation is that it's not about perfection. It's about finding a way of living that feels realistic, enjoyable and sustainable.
If you've ever come home from a holiday feeling disappointed in yourself, or worried that one celebration has undone all your hard work, I really hope this episode helps you look at things differently.
🦋 Finding balance between work, family life and looking after yourself
🦋 Managing food temptations during holidays and celebrations
🦋 Why healthy living doesn't have to mean missing out
🦋 Letting go of perfection and enjoying precious family time
🦋 Building habits that fit around real life

When I first spoke to Julie, I remember thinking how one decision can completely change the direction of your life.
Julie didn't set out to become a runner. In fact, she simply wanted to honour the memory of someone very special to her.
After losing Liz, who had helped care for Julie and her sister during difficult times in their childhood, Julie decided to take part in Race for Life to raise money for cancer research. Armed with an old pair of school trainers that had been partially chewed by her dog and a baseball cap so nobody would recognise her, she set off on what she thought would be a one-off challenge.
It wasn't.
That one decision became the beginning of something much bigger, eventually leading Julie all the way to the London Marathon.
This episode isn't just about running. It's about grief, gratitude, courage and discovering that you're capable of far more than you ever imagined.
Whether you're thinking about improving your health, starting something new or wondering if it's too late to change your life, I really hope Julie's story reminds you that every journey starts with one small step.
🦋 How the loss of Liz inspired Julie to make a life-changing decision
🦋 Training for Race for Life after never seeing herself as a runner
🦋 Building confidence one step at a time
🦋 Running the London Marathon surrounded by family and friends
🦋 A reminder that small beginnings can lead to extraordinary achievements

When I first spoke to Claire, I remember thinking, where do you even begin when you've got 12 stone to lose?
It's one thing wanting to lose weight. It's another when you're looking at such a huge number on the scales that it feels impossible to know where to start.
In this very first episode of Slimming Stories, Claire shares the honest story behind her incredible 12 stone weight loss with Slimming World. We chat about the emotional side of losing weight, the ups and downs along the way, and why changing your life is never just about the food.
If you're at the beginning of your own journey, or you've ever found yourself thinking, "I'll never be able to do that," I really hope this episode gives you the encouragement to keep going.
One of the things I love about Claire's story is that she doesn't pretend it was easy. She talks openly about being an "all or nothing" person, the moments she doubted herself, and what helped her keep putting one foot in front of the other.
I hope that wherever you are in your own weight loss journey, this episode reminds you that you don't have to have all the answers today. Sometimes the hardest part is simply deciding to begin.
🦋 Claire shares how she lost an incredible 12 stone with Slimming World
🦋 The emotional highs and lows of long-term weight loss
🦋 Why mindset can make all the difference
🦋 How to keep going when motivation disappears
🦋 A reminder that every journey starts with a single step

**The podcast started life as Mojo Share and evolved to Slimming Stories Around The World - Slimming Stories for short!
Ever started a Monday feeling determined, only to reach Wednesday wondering how you’ve ended up back in the same place?
If that’s you, you’re in the right place.
This short introduction will help you decide whether Slimming Stories Around the World is the podcast for you. If you’re tired of the weight loss hamster wheel, feel pulled towards foods that seem to have more control over you than you have over them, or find that the food noise is there all day, I think you’ll recognise something here.
Perhaps friends and family mean well. They encourage you and offer their words of wisdom, but they don’t quite understand what it feels like. Here, you’ll hear from people who’ve walked those same steps: the Monday starts, the Wednesday frustrations, the moments of hope and all the bits in between.
These are honest, heartfelt conversations about weight, food and the things we don’t always feel comfortable saying out loud. You can park the blame and shame for a while. I hope listening feels a little like having a warm blanket wrapped around you and knowing you’re not on your own.
I’m Claire Oldham-West. Have a listen, then decide if this feels like the right space for you.
