Kim, Jason, and Amy discuss the challenges and motivations for becoming a manager. They explore the survey results that show a lack of interest in people management, the reasons behind it, the role of middle managers, and the emotional labor involved in being a manager.

  1. Define the role. Teach people what the job of management is and provide the training and resources to help them succeed.
  2. Create a buddy or mentorship program so people interested in people management can experience some of the positive aspects of building relationships, guiding teams to achieve results and helping people take steps in the direction of their dreams.
