Mike Griswold is the Vice President of Research at Gartner, specializing in retail with a particular focus on forecasting and replenishment. He is responsible for Gartner’s annual Top 25 Supply Chain ranking and joins Supply Chain Now on a monthly basis to discuss the latest in retail supply chains from an analyst’s perspective.
Gartner held their 2021 Americas Supply Chain Symposium/XPO in late October. The overarching theme was ‘People, Profit, and Planet.’ As the speakers shared, these core ideas are not just critical to companies and customers, they each provide opportunities for supply chains to make a measurable value contribution in the short term as well as into the future.
In this episode, which was created as part of a Supply Chain Now livestream, Mike shares his key takeaways from the 2021 Americas Supply Chain Symposium/XPO with co-hosts Greg White and Scott Luton:
• The idea of ‘people, profit and planet’ as shared by Gartner Analysts Dana Stiffler and Simon Bailey in the event keynote
• Why organizations need to recognize the varied priorities of their customers/consumers and factor those into their planning and decision making
• How companies can prepare themselves to achieve the transparency and make the commitments required to support their people and be accountable with regard to their environmental impact

All effective distribution centers are hubs of high-stakes activity, and that has been even more true with the rise of eCommerce and increased supply chain disruption. For mature companies, however, it is not enough to merely manage the madness – they also want to optimize their costs and ensure that targets such as increasing sustainability or reducing waste are not forgotten.
James Malley is the Co-founder and CEO of Paccurate and Jerry Spence is the Director of Engineering – Supply Chain from Crate and Barrel, as they discuss modernizing e-commerce fulfillment operations. Their two organizations have been working together to make sure Crate and Barrel’s distribution centers are as environmentally efficient as they are operationally effective.
James and Jerry join co-hosts Greg White and Scott Luton to share the story behind their partnership:
• The opportunities that remain to improve the efficiency of warehousing through the use of digital technologies
• How leading companies like Crate and Barrell are looking at their warehousing operations as a source of sustainability as well as customer value
• Why quality product data is just as important to efficient packaging as it is to any other digitally-enabled initiative

It's a Digital Transformers takeover of the Supply Chain Buzz for November 15, produced in partnership with TNS - and with good reason! According to cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, DDoS attacks have increased by 24% in the past year, while smart DDoS attacks increased by 31%. That's a big problem for supply chains big and small, particularly as digital transformation efforts widen the network of third-party providers and IoT endpoints (that double nicely as attack vectors). In this livestream, co-hosts Scott and Kevin tackle the topic of cybersecurity with a little help from featured guest Richard Hummel, Manager of Threat Intelligence at NETSCOUT. Join this dynamic trio as they break down the increasing speed and bandwidth of DDos attacks, new, more targeted ransomware strategies, the intricate web of entities impacted by supply chain vulnerabilities - and the shift to manufacturing firms as the latest target of cyber attacks. You'll learn new terms like "honeypot," get actionable strategies for safeguarding your network - and find out how you can get timely updates on the threat landscape from NETSCOUT.
