In January 2018 Active Life was a company that could only pay Dr. Sean $3,000/month, and he had just left clinical practice and gym ownership, $3,000 was not going to cut it.
The only client acquisition strategy that he knew was to dive into the DM and start messaging people who were using hashtags about their body hurting, and attempting to help them, remotely.
30,000 DMs might be a stretch, it was probably more like 20,000 after doing some back of the napkin math, but that's still A LOT of DMs!
This episode encapsulates some of the lessons from that insane, unsustainable pace.

More and more we are seeing physical therapy and chiropractic clinics adding after care personal training. It's a great sign for the awareness of doctors and the interest in progressing client capacity after treatment is over.
But how should you do it?
There are some absolutely critical things for physical therapists and trainers to do if they're going to be successful working together. Dr. Sean outlines them in this episode.
Aram immigrated from Russia as a young boy, and has taken anything but the traditional path to build his career.

What is a fitness business supposed to do for its clients?
At Active Life we believe a business exists to solve problems. When that problem is solved, unless another problem that the business can solve is present, the client no longer needs the business.
So why is it that most gym businesses and trainers want to keep clients for life?
It's understandable, and in many cases it's in the best interests of the client to stay. In today's podcast Dr. Sean sits down with Cody Ringle, the operations lead for Active Life in Long Beach to discuss what the customer journey looks like and why there is intended churn at the end of it.
Imagine if you bought apple stock in the 90s...
Today it's me, Dr. Sean, alone, and I'm sharing with you a revelation I recently had that changed everything about the way I think about active life.
Enjoy.
Imagine destroying your shoulder, and then going through rehab for it. For a lot of people the thought of this is daunting. No more sports for a while, no more working out the way you're used to, and a lot of pain.
That's not how Isaac Lewis saw it. Isaac leaned into his recovery and his entrepreneurial streak to create the world's most compact, and portable cable resistance machine, Ancore Training Systems.
At the flagship for Active Life in Long Beach NY, we have 14 Ancores. We recommend them to ALL of our clients, and Dr. Sean has one in his home, so do his parents.
This podcast covers the entrepreneurial journey from college athlete to entrepreneur. It's gritty, it's creative, and it's inspiring.
