  • BITES **** -- "50 Ways to Fool Your Mother" by Ed Stivender with guest Don Shelline
From time to time, we'll post what we call a BITE ("like a regular episode, only shorter!"). We always hope that the stories you listen to on The Apple Seed will spark memories and thoughts that you can share with the ones you love -- perhaps even the people with whom you listen to the show. In a BITE, we'll listen to a single story -- one that we love -- and invite friends to share memories and thoughts that occur to them as they listen to it.

Have you ever tired to get out of a previously-set arrangement? On today's BITE, you'll hear Ed Stivender's version of a Bill Harley rap called "50 Ways to Fool Your Mother". Sam is joined in the studio by Don Shelline.

  • Touched by War
War is a topic that has followed us throughout history. From the beginning of human civilization there have been wars among men over land, resources, religion and much more. Many have fought, fallen and conquered. Most everyone has been influenced in some way by war whether that be through being on the front lines, being influenced by political decisions, or losing a loved one, war touches us all. But, through these hard times we get to glimpse at what matters most in life; faith and love in each other and ourselves. Through this we can push forward through terrible circumstances and find hope in the depths of trial. Even when all seems lost in the midst of smoke and flame, even when circumstances can’t seem to get any worse, there is always love, and life, and hope. And often, that is all you need.
On today’s episode, enjoy the following:
Radio Family Journal: New Years Waterfalls
Daily Mix: Stewart Foster discusses “The Thrilling Adventure Hour” podcast
Story Spotlight: ‘Old Wrinkles’ Memory’ by Odds Bodkin (10:38)
Storytime: ‘Dancing Story’ by Brenda Wong Aoki (14:14)
‘Whisperin’ Bill’ by Mitch Capel (9:38)
‘The Charge of the Light Brigade’ by the D’s (2:42)
