The Apple Seed

From time to time, we'll post what we call a BITE ("like a regular episode, only shorter!"). We always hope that the stories you listen to on The Apple Seed will spark memories and thoughts that you can share with the ones you love -- perhaps even the people with whom you listen to the show. In a BITE, we'll listen to a single story -- one that we love -- and invite friends to share memories and thoughts that occur to them as they listen to it.

Friends can often save each other from making poor decisions. Other times, they seem to push each other right into a poor decision. On today's BITE you'll hear a story called "Frog Gigging" by Bruce Walker. Sam is joined in the studio by Steven Kapp Perry, host of BYU Radio's "In Good Faith."

When looking back at our lives we often reminisce about ‘the good ‘ol days’. Happy childhood memories about our siblings, our parents and our friends. As we grow up we even form memories about our own children. We learn and grow from our mistakes, the lessons taught to us by parents, and possibly even from an inspired admonition every once in a while. Life constantly changes and we constantly change, but often the best ‘good ‘ol days’ are yet to come.

Today’s collection of stories and songs hopes to bring you a breath of fresh air with works from Susan Reed, Tim Lowry, and a litle  cowboy poetry too. We’ll hear tales about stuff  that happens in the great outdoors -- from tornados wreaking havoc to cowboys honoring the comings and goings of the season.

The little things that annoy us about our loved ones may be some of the things we miss most about them when they're gone. On today's BITE, you'll hear a story called "You're Gonna Miss Me" by Carmen Deedy. Sam is joined in the studio by Gene Nelson.

Many of us have sweet memories of bedtime, perhaps with our parents, or with children of our own. Within this episode, we'll be delighted to hear a host of stories from great tellers such as Bill Harley, Willy Clafin, and Lyn Ford, all about the curious adventures that arise at the end of the day as we try to settle down for the night. They'll be a story about a monster and a story about a little moose, but at their heart, every single one of them will be about the time we spend with our loved ones in the universal act of going to sleep.

Has a stranger ever told you a story you weren't quite sure was true? Well, on today's BITE you'll hear a story that's not only true, but it was compelling enough to be made into a major motion picture. Here's Kate Dudding's "Witness to the Truth". Sam is joined in the studio by Rachel Wadham.
