Have you taken the time to pause and think about why you’re not leveling up? Come to think of it; you’ve armed yourself with the right and necessary tools to get you ahead in your business. Though things are doing well, you are not moving far off to where you want to be as far as you know.
Look around yourself; the answer just might be there.
Megan Pomarensky is a Master’s of Rehabilitation Sciences candidate and a Certified Athletic Therapist. She is a self-proclaimed learn-it-all, working in private practice and team settings in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Since 2013, her clinical practice has always been one-on-one, and includes working with children, adults, and recreational to professional athletes, providing injury assessments, rehab, and training techniques. She initially had dreams of becoming a forensic scientist and couldn’t get enough crime shows in between dance classes. But when she was in high school, I realized that chemistry was not her jam, and she was way more inspired by her phys-ed teacher who had an athletic therapy background. She immediately switched gears into wanting to be like her. Soon, she taught her and a few others human anatomy, exercise progressions, and how to tape ankles in free periods.
From there, she jumped straight into her undergrad at the University of Winnipeg, learned a TON, met some great clinicians to intern with, and ended up going straight into full-time clinical practice at a multidisciplinary clinic and gym once she officially became an athletic therapist.
In this episode, Megan shares how her injury and the persisting pain she experiences despite having had surgeries led her to rehab herself and find ways to help others in the same situation that she did.
The desire to help and serve others led her to start rehabilitation and therapy training.
She got herself certifications and went to have her master’s to fully equip her in the business that she started. But as far as she is concerned, her business does not peak up to where she wanted it to. As she would admit, she feels as though she’s not making any impact at all. People do not care about certifications and what those letters appended to your name are all about. That is where she shares about lessons on reframing your marketing around these certifications to truly resonate with your audience.
Things were doing pretty well pre-COVID, but when COVID hits, everything changes and her business pivoting lessons are gems to learn from.
Sustaining a business is no easy feat. And COVID made it even more complicated. Though there might have been struggles during this time, what made her get past through the humps and be consistent in her business growth is something we can all glean from.
Megan admits that she could never do it all alone. She’s also not spared from the imposter syndrome. That’s why it’s necessary to invest in yourself so you can get others’ perspectives and objectively look at your business and do what needs to be done.
How she came from a scarcity to an abundance mindset is one worthy journey worth sharing for everyone to have that positivity and creativity always alive in us.
For one to have a lasting impact with your audience, learn to connect and establish relationships truly. That will see you throughout your lifetime.
As to the future of online health and fitness, she sees positive responses from people resorting online.
