  • When you’re depressed or struggling, it can be hard to do anything at all, let alone find a therapist, book an appointment, and actually get there… week after week after week.

    And then there are the medications. Maybe your doctor prescribes you something, but how do you know how to measure if it is effective? How do you know how long to try? Or when to switch? Is that even safe?

    And then why does therapy work so well for some and not for others? What should you be doing between sessions to feel the benefits?

    Well, that’s what we’re talking about today.

    Our guest is Ken Duckworth. He’s the chief medical officer of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and has worked with NAMI since 2003. He is board certified in adult psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry and is an assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. His passion for this work comes from his loving dad, who had bipolar disorder.
