  • #43: Jason Goodson: How Backyard Roadies Is Breaking The Binge Drinking Culture, How To Put Yourself FIRST

In this episode we sit down with Jason Goodson, founder of Backyard Roadies a travel experience and tour company in NZ.
The impressiveness of Jason's business starts with its birth during Covid, when travel pretty much ceased to exist but the lack of purpose in his corporate job helped him gather up the courage to go all in on his passion - which is connecting with people through travelling.
We also talk about the effects of binge drinking has had on mental and emotional health and how he aims to change that culture among his own life and also his clients. He really emphasises that Backyard Roadies is not a party tour, its a vehicle to meaningfully connect with the land, with other people and with ourselves.
Of course, these outcomes do not come without a painful process of learning and unlearning - which Jason goes in depth in making this a very relatable and relevant conversation.

  • #42: Rebekkah Burnett: Finding the Balance with Your Passion, Mind and Body Overload, Hypothalamic Amenorrhea Recovery

In this episode we are joined by new mum and Les Mills trainer Rebekkah Burnett. We discuss Rebekkah’s transition from the arts industry, working in marketing and as an actress, into becoming a full time fitness trainer. She shares how her love and passion for exercise got the better of her, unaware that she was overloading her body through excessive training and under-fuelling, resulting in a condition known as hypothalamic amenorrhea. Rebekkah speaks openly as to how this condition manifested for her, and how the mental side of things was just as important as the physical in regards to her recovery.
There is so much insight and learning to be taken from this conversation, especially for our active, health-conscious female listeners, but similarly, men can benefit from learning more about this condition too.
