Stressors exist. Burnout results from consistent stress that overwhelms your body’s ability to cope. Stress like a full inbox, an inbasket of test results, a heavy diagnosis or a sick patient is part of what it means to work in medicine. Are you effectively completing the stress cycle in your life?
Most PAs aren’t. Most healthcare “heroes” are fighting a villain that no one can see: stressors. Addressing the stressors: cleaning out your inbox, having that difficult conversation with a patient doesn’t help if you don’t work to deal with the stress in your body and in your mind.
In this episode, I’ll share 7 techniques to complete the stress cycle, how to use them, and when you need them. We will unpack the stressors, what the stress cycle is and how to stop getting stuck in the middle of your stress cycle. Being stuck in the tunnel of stress leads to burnout.
Learn how to speak the language of your body. Your body doesn’t speak English – it speaks body language. Understanding how to tune in to the signals your body is sending you and working your way through that stress cycle is key to avoiding burnout or recovering from burnout.
