Professional working mothers’ mental health continues to be vulnerable in 2023. Consider findings from Harris Poll and CVS Health that show 42% of working mothers were diagnosed with anxiety/depression in 2022. That’s compared to 28% of the general population and 25% of their coworkers without kids. These results are hardly surprising given the years that came before on top of the stressors that working mothers have faced for decades.
Dr. Elizabeth Arleo mom of three, radiologist, and author of the new book FIRST, EAT YOUR FROG: And Other Pearls for Professional Working Mothers joins us today to share tips and strategies that working mothers can leverage to overcome challenges, manage overwhelm, and improve their happiness in and out of the workplace.
Today we discuss…
- The lack of support for motherhood in the workplace
- What might get in the way as a professional working mother
- How we might have more time than we think we have
- Making time for your true priorities as you look at your time in weeks instead of days
- Time-blocking your priorities to make sure they happen, including taking care of your personal wellness
- The benefits of doing the most important things first
- Permission to choose things that are good enough vs. “perfect”
- How to become a “recovering perfectionist”
