The entire month of January was all about DOING here on NRJ. The Dreamer + Doer Series focused on the necessary steps needed to become not only a big dreamer but a big DOER. You know that one Pinterest quote that floats around:
[Tweet "Dreams Don't Work Unless You DO!"]
As cliche as it is, there is some real live truth to it. So my vision for the month of January was to incite change amongst readers to DO the actual scary, tedious, big work that it takes to get closer to your dreams.
The series included posts like:
4 Steps To Go From Dreamer To Doer
Daily Bold Action
4 Apps To Help Get The Dream Work Done.
Once the series ended I thought it'd be pretty cool for all of us to get together and get some dream work done. My thought was that sometimes it's easier to dream chase with the homies around rooting you on.
So, two Sundays ago roughly 22 sistas got together at Gallery Cafe and got the dream work done, together. The Dreamer + Doer Meet Up was more than I could ever imagine.
I mean I seriously thought it'd be just coffee and laptops but it turned into so much more. It became a place where connections were made and bonds were created.
My good friend Channa has been recently contemplating going back to school for journalism. Well, my friend L'Oreal is a journalist so I made the introduction and they hit it off like that. L'Oreal gave Channa her perspective on journalism and hooked her with some connections on who to talk to if she truly wanted to pursue it.
Londen shared with me that she was trying to start a non-profit for diabetes awareness and sure enough Channa works in the non-profit sector so I linked them up and they were able to connect on that level.
Londen, L'Oreal, and Channa weren't the only women that made connections. Sharing was the vibe of the entire meet up. Women wanting to see other women win. No one held back, everyone was open and most importantly everyone was doing!
After the meet up I sent out a survey to all of the attendees and the consensus was that folks would love to keep the Meet Up party going! Whoo Hoo!
I got a few suggestions from some of the women that next time they'd like to have some worksheets so that they can track their monthly progress. A few of the women even wanted some sort of formal introductions of everyone in the room. I did my best to link up like minds and careers but I got a few notes that it would be helpful for introductions of everyone right at the top. I also got a bunch of emails about women wanting to come but the tickets were "sold out" (tickets were free but seating was limited to only 25).
So, with all of that awesome feedback in mind the Dreamer + Doer Meetup will now be a monthly event, but a bit more focused with tools to help each DOER thrive. So stay on the lookout for the next meetup!
