Weekly mani-pedis are a beloved routine for so many women. That's probably why nail polish is the most requested addition to my Toxin-Free Shopping Guide. While I pretty much always have clear, untouched nails, my daughter loves a manicure. So you can thank her for her contribution to the shopping guides newest category: Nail Polish.
Unfortunately, a completely, 100% toxin-free nail polish does not exist and it probably never will. Why? Because nail polish is paint. And paint requires certain ingredients like structure inducing polymers to make them function properly.
So while I’m never going to parade these products as 100% safe, what I can share with you are safer alternatives. Because here's the thing, I am never going to judge anyone for conscious consumption. If getting your nails done brings you joy, you should keep getting your nails done. But hopefully, by the end of this episode, you'll feel empowered to try some clean-er options.
In this episode, I discuss:

On today's "Ask Me Anything" episode, I’m doing a deep dive on phenoxyethanol. What is phenoxyethanol and why is it on my avoid list?
Why are a lot of so called "clean" brands using it? It can be confusing because their is a naturally occurring version of phenoxyethanol found in chicory and green tea. But that natural version is not what is being used in our cosmetics.
I'm a big believer in informed consent. And unfortunately, too many companies are trying to pull the wool over our eyes with this toxin. One company goes so far as to say that the phenoxyethanol in their product in derived from green tea. In all actuality, the synthetic form of phenoxyethanol is made in a laboratory by reacting phenol with ethylene oxide, which is a human carcinogen.
Phenoxyethanol is everywhere - from your moisturizers to sunscreens. Preservatives play a critical role in keeping water-based products from growing moldy. So we need them, but we don’t need this own.
In this episode, I discuss:

Too many women are going through the trauma of infertility and being met with inattentive care. The road to parenthood can be an extremely difficult one to navigate. So today, I'm welcoming Dr. Katie, a naturopathic physician onto the show for an "ask her anything" episode.
I believe every woman deserves to have access to a physician like Dr. Katie. She shares her own personal struggle with chronic illness as the impetus that led her towards holistic medicine. From informed consent when it comes to birth control to the importance of mental healthcare for parents struggling to conceive - we're leaving nothing out of the conversation.
Unfortunately, when it comes to infertility, there is no silver bullet. You’re not going to listen to this episode and suddenly have all of the answers as to why you specifically are going through this hardship. But Dr. Katie does an incredible job of introducing a path forward where each individual has options. We don’t have to throw our hands up and shrug or immediately jump into IVF treatments.
Tune in to hear which toxins Dr. Katie tells all of her patients to avoid, how to manage stress through this process, and what tests you can run to get to the root of the issue.

I'm sure many of you can relate to feeling bombarded by the overload of information about clean beauty products. That's where Rose found herself before joining my Toxin Free in 3 course. Now she's a graduate of the 3 course and she's joining us today to share her expereince. I love Rose's attitude of experimentation and the grace she has had with herself on her journey.
Rose is a great example of slow implementation. Don't force yourself to immediately adopt every single toxin free pointer. That will quickly lead to burnout! I love the priorities Rose was able to set for herself in order to maintain steady growth towards a more holistic life. This is exactly what a change in lifestyle looks like for my students. Little by little, we create a more toxin-free environment for ourselves! Tune in to get the inside scoop on what Toxin Free in 3 looks and feels like.

Today's episode has been months in the making! I’ve been experimenting behind the scenes to curate a list of my favorite toxin free makeup. I’m not going to lie to you, switching to a toxin free makeup routine is going to be an adjustment.
We’ve gotten so used to waterproof mascara and lipstick that doesn’t budge. But most of the time, the reason our favorite products are able to have staying power is because they’re packed with harmful chemicals. Luckily, there are so many amazing companies out there that have cracked the code on long lasting makeup that is made with safe, clean ingredients.
We still have the challenge of seeing past the companies that are committed to greenwashing, though. So join me to get the full scoop on how you can have a makeup routine that supports your body instead of working against it!

Have you heard all of the noise about PFAS being in your mascara, period underwear? even contact lenses? You may have noticed the vaguely ominous phrase “forever chemicals” popping up in the news lately. But what the hell are forever chemicals, exactly? And what do we know about how they can affect our health?
This episode is everything you need to know about these "forever chemicals".
Today, we’re dealing with wild repercussions because these chemicals migrate very easily. From products to our water supply to the air we breathe, PFAS travels fast and they stick around, for, well.. forever.

Bug bites can be a serious issue during the Summer months, especially if you live anywhere near water. It can become more than a minor inconvenience when one small bite grows into a larger problem like Lyme Disease or West Nile. These tiny critters can pack a real punch to our bodies and I want you to be protected!
The risk to using a a product that doesn’t work is much higher for bug repellent than deodorant or laundry detergent. The latter might not leave your clothes bleach white, but the former could pose a serious risk to your life.
When I moved to Virginia, the natural living part of me wanted to make my own insect repellent. But the environmental toxins attorney in me had to do a two-week deep dive on all of the research that is out there on bug sprays and insect repellent and DEET and all of it.
Let’s set you up for a safe and joyful Summer with this weeks episode on what insect repellents actually work, without all the toxins.
Wendy's DIY Bug Spray
In a 2 ounce glass spray bottle, add 7 drops each of Citronella, Purification, Cedarwood, Lavender and Lemongrass. Sprinkle in a pinch of salt (to help the oils mix with the water) and fill with distilled water. Spray on any exposed skin while outside and re apply every 60 minutes. *Make half the recipe for kids under 6
