Chiropractic care is surrounded by a world of misconceptions. Years ago, I truly thought the only reason to get a chiropractic adjustment was if I had a major injury. So today, i’m chatting with my personal and longtime chiropractor, Dr. Rachel Richards. Dr. Rachel finds her work as a chiropractor to be fulfilling because she really believes in the power her work has to change her patients lives.
We’re digging in to all things chiropractic care from the origin story of chiropractics to how you can go about finding an aligned chiropractor in your area. Personally, I take my whole family to the chiropractor for a whole host of reasons and some of them might surprise you. Dr. Rachel practices with an applied kinesiology background and specializes in Neural Emotional Techniques that help patients process stored trauma and emotions.
She's sharing what you can expect from a chiropractor, when to see a chiropractor as opposed to a regular doctor, and so many helpful tips. Yes, you can come to the chiropractor if your back hurts, but you can also go when you’re experiencing a whole host of other issues. My kids literally come to me asking for chiropractic adjustments when they aren't feeling their best. Dr. Rachel explains that this is because chiropractic care focuses on balancing the nervous system. You will walk away feeling confident that you can go find a chiropractor and explore the benefits for yourself!

Living a toxin-free life does not mean you need to be hyper-vigilant to the point of exhaustion. If you’re overwhelmed and anxious because of your pursuit of a cleaner lifestyle, this is your sign to take a step back. I see a lot of parallels happening in the wellness industry right now between the dogmatic diet culture and the clean living space. I am passionate because I think the secrecy of what companies are putting in your products needs to come to light.
But even a good, healthy thing can be taken too far. When these conversations start to induce feelings of anxiety or maybe even shame, the effect of those feelings can actually be worse than the products you’re avoiding. Spoiler alert, there is no such thing as completely toxin-free living, and that is not a goal that anybody should be striving for.
In this short episode, i’m hoping to send you off with a new-found confidence that you DO have the tools and strategy you need to live a more toxin-free life. I’ll be sharing my simple, stress-free, five-step framework for living a toxin-free(ish) life. You can reduce your toxin exposure by focusing on the five things in your home that are contributing the most. Then, i’ll walk you through the three key questions to ask yourself when it comes to all the rest.

Ladies.. have you noticed lots of new period products showing up in your social media feeds that are being marketed as toxin-free, organic, and sustainable? Considering that so many tampons are being used and women are literally putting them in our vagina, you would think that ingredient and safety information would be a top priority. Unfortunately, the conventional tampons that you grew up with and might still use today have a short list of toxins that should be avoided.
Get this - tampons, pads, period cups and discs are not even considered personal care products. They're considered medical devices. This distinction means they are protected from any requirement to tell you what's in them. In this episode, i’m getting really clear on what toxins can be found in conventional period products and why they should be avoided. But i’m most excited about covering the super exciting organic alternatives we can choose from today!

It's estimated that over 20 million people in the United States have some form of thyroid condition, and almost 60% of those people have no idea. On today’s “Ask Me Anything” episode, I am answering Diana’s question about what a full thyroid panel is and why you need it.
Most doctors will run TSH levels if thyroid issues are suspected, but they stop there. I give the full run down on why that’s not good enough and the exact panels you’ll need to have to know if you have a thyroid issue. A full thyroid panel consists of not one, but six thyroid markers. You need them all to to see the whole picture.
This entire episode is one big love letter to all the women out there who are struggling and not getting the medical care that they deserve. And this is the episode that I wish I had 20 years ago. I share a bit of my personal experience with the long road to identifying the root cause of my hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's. And finally, I would be missing a huge opportunity if I didn't share with you some simple, actionable lifestyle adjustments that can help address the most common underlying root causes of thyroid issues.

The first thing I tell people to do when they embark of their holistic living journey is to ditch fragrances. It’s the first but also often the hardest step to embrace. Fragrances are deeply rooted in our memories of what grandma was cooking as a child and fresh sheets on a Sunday morning. That’s why going natural and fragrance-free can be such a difficult step to take. But today, i’m going to tell you WHY you should try to eliminate fragrances from your household. Companies have been manipulating what you buy to trigger these happy memories but they haven’t taken your health into account.
We’'ll get into the specifics of what exactly is in these fragrances that makes them such a problem for your health and its direct relation to infertility, hormone disorders, miscarriage rates, and more. But I won’t just leave you anxious about the pervasive use of fragrances in our products. Luckily, we’ve got so many options to choose in order to avoid these toxins now and I’ll dive in to what you'll find in my home and where you can shop for them.
