Every session starts off with a circle of trust, they talk about a little bit of their swimming background, personal goals, or expectations out of the day. After that, they go into a few breathing exercises. Then, they do some workouts before getting into the pool. The purpose of training with the weights underwater, he says, "isn't to weight lift underwater, it's really to kind of push your mental capacity and keep you down there for a prolonged amount of time, whether you're doing the walks with them, or whether you bring it back up to the surface or bringing it back down."
