Marci Marie Simmons was from a good upbringing, and had a good job. She had made a few wrong turns along the way but was doing well. After realizing the company she was working for was taking part in some not so above board accounting, Marci started doing some 'creative accounting' of her own. So, she had found a way to steal funds on a regular basis, and had become addicted to 'not getting caught'. She knew she had to stop, but couldn't. Listen to this amazing episode as we hear in detail about the day her world came crashing down. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison for in 2011 for stealing a total of $367k. Although a lot, the punishment did not ,match the crime, and she was made an example of, even spending time in solitary confinement. She was released on parole in March 2021. Never a violent offender in or out of custody, she is now on a mission to help other female inmates who often suffer the same fate in the USA's corrupt and failed justice system. Wow. What an episode.

Craig Landes has been through a lot, and he has lived to tell the tale! We are glad he did just that on our podcast, and what an amazing story it is! Craig's journey happened in three key parts, starting with a total u-turn of his life as a Pastor, when he packed in his church career after a decade! After that came some interesting career choices, some good, some bad, and then some really bad a recession hit and he and his wife found themselves in a very bad financial situation. As if this wasn't tough enough, it as around this time that Craig's wife started having seasonal mental episodes that would become so bad, that Craig and his young child were forced to move out and live separately for two years, a time Craig recalls as utterly traumatizing, and something he is still unpacking to this day. Craig and his wife stayed the course, and she was diagnosed as bi-bolar and found a medication that revolutionized the way she felt. Anyway, we could go on, have a listen for yourselves its a great episode!

When Monique Gibson first entered her twenties, she had big plans, adventures to go on, things to do, careers to build. The world had a very different plan. It all started very slowly, a weird symptom here and there, dizzy spells, exhaustion, belly aches. Over a course of 6 months, her body started to deteriorate so quickly she was concerned it was a degenerative condition like MS or MND, she even wondered if she might actually be dying. Things worsened and her symptoms included: muscle paralysis, muscle spasms, body freezes, extreme fatigue, muscle weakness, speech difficulties, severe fragrance and chemical sensitivity, severe digestive issues, blackouts/fainting spells She couldn't work for 12 months, couldn't eat, was losing weight, and her muscles were spasming 24/7. All the doctors would tell her it was stress, and there was nothing they could do for me. That I just was not trying hard enough to get better. This was a very lonely journey, in many ways it was heartbreaking. Join us to find out how Monique began her journey of recovery, and actual diagnosis, and the discovery of some major locked away trauma!!

This is the AFTER THOUGHTS section for the previous episode, Christy's Story, where your hosts, Luke and Kyle, unpack what we just heard! She has twenty-five years of service as a professional paramedic and eighteen years as a professional firefighter/paramedic. While active as a first responder, Christy never allowed the experiences of her tough job to get to her, even though she had seen some of the most shocking and awful things in her 25 years, she thought she was dealing just fine. Suddenly, literally out of nowhere, Christy was brought to her knees by PTSD.

Luke and Kyle discuss the previous episode, Lisa's Story, in which Dr Lisa Smith discusses a number of Sexual Violence and Assault incidents within her own family unit. She would learn that these such incidents were not isolated, and soon realized that the issue of Sexual Assault in her community was all too common. It's a heavy episode and very inspiring talking to Lisa, and the work she is doing now to help kids and youths understand more about consent, what to do and who to turn to if assaulted, and when and how to speak up! Thank you Lisa you are awesome!

Dr Lisa Smith is a professor, hypnotherapist, author, and advocate who has helped many people for the past 20+ years overcome trauma from PTSD, abuse (physical, sexual & emotional) & other mental health issues. In many cases, she is likely the only person that her clients confide in regarding their sexual assault or rape. This is a very hard hitting episode so be warned! Lisa discusses a number of Sexual Violence incidents within her own family, in her own home! She he would learn that these such incidents were not isolated, and soon realized that the issue of Sexual Assault in her community was all too common. She made it her mission to raise awareness and convince people and parents that young children and teens must learn about grooming and targeting so that, as a community, they can reduce the number of sexual assaults against children and youth. Some of the statistics you will hear in the episode are utterly mind bending, and we thank Dr Lisa Smith for sharing her knowledge and story.
