We can only imagine that moment when we are told, 'I'm sorry, you have Cancer!' Life can become so fragile in an instant. In this After Thoughts episode, Luke and Kyle discuss the previous story, in which Nicola described her journey from Cancer diagnosis, to her life today, 12 years on. She lives with her cancer, and more importantly she lives away from traditional medicine, and from the doctors telling her what she should or shouldn't do. Nicola helps others to understand and come out of the shadow of their cancer too. It's very inspirational. What do you think? Email us at [email protected]

Just little old Luke for this one, chatting to you lot, all our lovely listeners!! Question: Why do we stay in abusive relationships? We would think it would be so easy to see the abuse, and leave, but it's really not that simple. Often people outside the relationship can see it clear as daylight, but those in the relationship either can't see it, don't want to see it, or are clinging on in the hope that it will get better. As always do get in touch with any thoughts or if you would like to come on the show with a story of your own! [email protected]

This week, Candice Smiley from 'Create The Ripple' Podcast joins us for an unfalteringly real and honest episode about love, abuse, and mistrust in her relationships, and how she finally banished her demons and started to live her life on her terms! In her late teens, Candice was repeatedly sexually abused in a relationship with a man for 2 x years. She found the strength to leave, but the experience would lead her to question her every relationship thereafter, and begin a spiral of endless doubt and self sabotage. This episode is a true 'butterfly from the chrysalis' story, as Candice discusses taking action to bring her power back into her life. With a new daughter, some significant weight loss, and surrounding herself with the right people, Candice finally started to have positive relationship experiences, and as the self belief returned, true love finally came knocking. It's a wonderful and authentic episode for anyone who has ever been through any kind of relationship, let alone suffered any kind of abuse.

This is the After Thoughts section for the previous episode, Tom's Story.. Luke and Kyle like to have a chat about what we have just heard, and join up some dots. This weeks episode involved 2 x very different near death experiences.. and our guest Tom said that these moments have really shaped his perspective on life. The most amazing thing was how he described the eerie silence in the plane as it descended into it's emergency landing. What an amazing episode. Please feel free to contact us as ever. This week, Tom Teller comes on to discuss his two experiences of near death, and what those moments taught him, and how they have affected the way he lives his life. We hear from Tom firstly about his Motorcycle accident, from the moment of impact to the recovery, and everything in between. Its a wonderfully raw and heart-stopping story. Next, and just a couple of years later, we discuss Tom's close call with death on a commercial flight that was seconds away from a crash landing. The moments on the plane that Tom describes, with the other passengers, is one of the most extraordinary stories we have ever heard on our podcast so far. This episode is about the wonder and fragility of life, and how these moments can shape us, our perspective, priorities, and humility. Thanks Tom, amazing!

In one of the most raw, honest and powerful episodes yet, Niki Sibera tells us about her harrowing childhood as she witnessed her father use physical violence against her mother on a regular basis. She realized that if she intervened, he would stop. But it would continue to happen until her and her mother finally escaped. The story gets even more traumatic, when her mother dies of cancer when she is just 14. Niki discusses how underlying trauma would lead to over-eating and a loss of direction and self worth. This is not, however, just about Niki's traumatic past, as with all of our episodes, we focus on the recovery, and the rise out of the darkness. With time and healing, Niki began to flourish. It's an incredible story of self discovery, and an uplifting and powerful message of triumph over trauma!!

Buckle up for this one, its a really amazing, and extraordinary story of courage, will power, and total inspiration. Lindsay had a very rare underlying illness, CMT Disease, that meant she had weakened sensations in her feet, and so she couldn't feel the pain of an infection caused by a nail she had stepped on, one day while walking. Over many weeks, she became very ill, and very weak, and doctors simply couldn't find what was wrong with her until it was too late. Eventually, on realizing the spreading infection could kill her, they took steps to amputate. Lindsay is a beacon of hope for those who are living life after limb loss, and even has a coaching business, helping other limb loss survivors and other medical trauma survivors, by building hope and resilience and practicing mindfulness and wellbeing. Simply amazing!
