This week, an amazing story of fear, rejection, loss and grief, and a comeback story to soothe the soul. Crystal grew up in an environment that didn't nurture her self esteem. She would go through a period of serious overeating as a teenager, weighing almost 200lbs at age 14.  Cut to a few years later, Crystal would lose her Dad suddenly, get divorced, and move back to her hometown. She had gone from over-eating to starving herself, and she didn't recognize the person she had become.  This episode is for all of us who have struggled with self esteem, with self value, for all of us who have at times thought we were worthless. Crystal saw herself in a family photo, and realized that she had become someone she didn't want to be.. its an amazing comeback story, and get ready for some goosebumps!

Kyle is back from the Covid wilderness to chat to us about the last episode, Bevan's Story.  I subject close Kyle's heart as Kyle too suffered a stroke in his thirties, thankfully not quite as severe as our guest Bevan. It's an insightful after thoughts episode and one that makes us ponder the fragility of life once again. Bevan was just going about a normal day, and the very young age of 35 when everything as he knew it would change in a flash.  An amazing and inspirational episode, and if you missed it, its the one before this one!

In this week's amazing episode, Bevan Choate joins us to discuss his life altering stroke at just 35 years old. We hear about the moment he knew something was wrong, the two near death experiences during his 52 day stay in hospital, and his road to recovery less that two years since the the day in question. Bevan is a Doctor and would perform surgeries, and one of the hardest things was coming to terms with life after the stroke and realizing that he wouldn't be able to go back to what he loved doing and what he had studied for all his life. In this very honest and up-front chat, Bevan tells us how he re-evaluated life, his relationships, what it meant to love, and be alive. Such an engaging and wonderful story and as always, we focus on the good, that comes out of something seemingly life ending. Thank you Bevan!

It's not often we have so many extraordinary things happen in one episode. Where to start!? Dr Robb Kelly was an alcoholic of desperate proportion, he would do literally anything to get a drink. At one point, Rodd tells us how things became so bad that he stabbed his wife just to get to the Vodka! Alcohol and Drug addiction can strip you of everything, and Robb would end up homeless for 14 years until some sort of divine or universal intervention helped him get things back on track and turn his life completely around. In this jam packed episode, we go on a  rollercoaster ride with twists and turns and as usual, we aim to focus on the good out of the bad, the triumph over trauma!

In this heartbreaking and raw episode, Leigh describes the events that led to her son having a total psychotic break at the age of just 16. Leigh's Son, Mark, had recently moved to China with his Dad. Leigh lived in England and It had been hard letting Mark go to live so far away as a young teen. One morning she came home to an onslaught of messages that her son was having some sort of breakdown. Visa and travel issues ensued but she was finally able to collect him in China, and bring him back to the UK for medical help. Leigh described her son at this point as a totally unrecognizable human being. Paranoid and delusional,  scared of colors and sounds. Like an Alien in another body! Leigh describes the next 7 years, bringing up to present day, and lives in hope for her son, that he will one day, once again, lead a normal life. Take some deep breaths listeners, this one is a rollercoaster. Thank you for your courage Leigh!
