WHY THE COURTESAN ARCHETYPE IS THE OLDEST PROFESSION IN THE WORLD.

I believe our human soul has always known that our Eros is a pathway to divinity.

I believe that this is one of the core drives that pulls us towards sex.  We in fact are looking for God through sex.  We are looking for our original home through sex.  We are looking for the end to our separation identity through sex.

We know this, and yet this knowing is murky for the vast majority of us.

Even among the sacred sexuality community, I’m not sure how many of us are living this reality and reaching for it directly.  Which is ok.  Perhaps it’s just the process of us finding our depth along this particular pathway.

First we hear of the possibility.  Then we follow and experiment.  And perhaps for a long while, we are in ‘fake it till make it’ modality.  I feel that many people today are in this phase of discovering the scared in the erotic.

I think even when we pay for sex, when we seek Courtesans or choose to be Courtesans, we are engaging in this sacred portal that is possible through the Erotic.  All Courtesans are partially Priests and Priestess — even if the Courtesans themselves don’t believe this much themselves.
