We have snuck in an extra episode of our Spill The Tea podcast for Christmas and it’s full of sparkle, so settle in with a mince pie and a mug of tea.
This week we meet Big Lil and the Headscarf revolutionaries, four women who in 1968 changed the face of fishing in the UK proving that when women get together positive change can happen.
There is also a pitch perfect musical recital as we play Christmas carols on the kazoo (earplugs optional for that section!)
In the Book Collective we conclude our book for the series, Miranda July’s All Fours. Did it deliver? Listen in to find out.
Plus, we asked you, “What’s the best thing about life after menstruation?” Your insightful, positive answers didn’t disappoint!
You can join in with our Book Club, send us a DM or voice note with your thoughts on the book.
Finally, we tackle the idea of the “Menopause Militia” with a frank and lively chat about us ‘women of a certain age’, and leave you with a thoughtful nugget to ponder over the holidays.
It’s another episode brimming with chat and all the usual sweary shenanigans! There’s comments, a WI (weekly invitation) and a thought for the week.

This series, we are spilling the tea on topics that affect our health and well-being from the extra-ordinary women that are raising their voices for positive change.
Today we are thrilled to be spilling the tea with our guest and Womenkind Collective co-founder Lou Hockings-Thompson.
When a child moves out of home, parents often experience a mix of emotions, ranging from pride and fulfilment to feelings of grief, sadness, and anxiety. These emotions can feel even more intense if other life changes, are happening simultaneously such as menopause. Lou and her husband, Steve, are Empty Nesters and have been for a little while now and she offers us some wise words for those who may be navigating life as an empty nester.
In the Book Collective we discuss chapters 19-25 of our book for this series, All Fours by Miranda July. The narrators relationship is spiralling, her emotions are running high and we find out who the tele-photographer is! We will read to the end of the book for our Book club week.
You can join in with our Book Club, send us a DM or voice note with your thoughts on the book or ideas for a new book for Season 12.

This series, we will be spilling the tea on topics that affect our health and well-being from the extra-ordinary women that are raising their voices for positive change.
This week we spill the tea on romantic relationships in midlife with our very good friend Annie Chung @my_life_in_lipstick, Annie is a midlife fashion and colour expert who also became single in her 50’s.
For the first time menopause is being cited in more divorce cases than ever before and nearly 70% of divorces involving women at his time of life were initiated by the wives so obviously we wanted to chat to find out what it’s really like getting back out there in a conversation where no topic is off limits!
Annie chats to us about online dating, what it's like to meet someone in midlife and finding your confidence again.
She's got some great tips on dating, dating apps, how menopause does play a role in romantic relationships and what it's like to be single in midlife.
In the Book Collective we discuss chapters 13-18 of our book for this series, All Fours by Miranda July. The narrator finds out she is in menopause and starts HRT, she also has a very erotic encounter with Davey’s old lover! We will read chapters 19-25 for our next Book club week.

WKC Spill The Tea on Anxiety and Menopause
In our new series, we will be spilling the tea on topics that affect our health and well-being from the extra-ordinary women that are raising their voices for positive change. This week we spill the tea on what it’s like living with anxiety in menopause, from our personal experiences.
We discus what anxiety disorder is and what it isn't, and a little bit of its history as a disorder.
We talk about driving anxiety, why so many women leave the workplace due to the anxiety they feel in menopause along with other menopausal symptoms and why social anxiety can be crippling and stop you from going out. We discuss some coping methods to help when anxiety hits.
(The name we could not remember in our chat about anxiety was author Bella Mackey, we still don't remember who she married.... a DJ called Gregg somebody?)
In the Book Collective we discuss chapters 6-12 of our book for this series, All Fours by Miranda July. The characters are coming to life as we delve deeper into the psychology of their relationships and we discuss the unusual intimacy that the un-named protagonist has with Davey and his alternative relationship with his mother. The web of lies is being woven and definitely a page turner to see where it is all going. We will read chapters 13-19 for our next Book club week.
You can join in with our Book Club, send us a DM or voice note with your thoughts on the book.
The book we also talk about is Vagina Uncensored by Ally Hensley available now.
It’s another episode brimming with chat and all the usual sweary shenanigans! There’s comments, a WI (weekly invitation) and a thought for the week.

Womankind Collective: Spill The Tea Podcast
Women’s health, gender bias, extraordinary stories, and the menopause conversation, served with honesty, humour, and heart by…
Every Sunday we spill the tea on the stuff society shies away from: hormones, health, relationships, equity, midlife pivoting, and finding your confidence again, plus menopause, because it keeps coming up for good reason. No topic’s off-limits and no conversation is too awkward. With expert guests including Menopause specialists, GPs, Gynaecologists, Nutritionists, Sleep Therapists, Advocates, and Comedians, we mix evidence-based facts with real talk, real laughs, and the occasional faux pas.
Beyond the podcast, we’re authors of Tackling Gender Bias in the Healthcare System: What Patients Stories Teach Us About Implementing Systemic Change, and our #WheresMyClinic campaign helped bring the NHS Devon Menopause Service to life. We founded Exmouth’s first Menopause Café and hosted BBC Radio Devon’s first-ever menopause café.
Find us daily on Instagram as Womankind Collective.
New episodes every Sunday, grab a cuppa and join us. It’s time to spill the tea.
