Today on The WoMed, neonatologist Shaliz Pourkaviani (@doc_by_day) joins D and Dani to talk about the importance of a positive attitude, the benefits of locum tenens, and the need for women to support each other in the workplace. Dani asks something we’re all wondering when listening to Shaliz: is this much energy normal for her? The answer is absolutely. Shaliz finds time to take care of herself first so that she can take care of others later, and she understands the importance of knowing her limits. Her positivity and energy have allowed her to successfully acclimate to hospitals all over the country while working as a traveling neonatologist. Dr. Shaliz shares the top three causes of negativity in the workplace and how to combat them, and why her biggest mentors have been her parents, particularly her father. She passes on to D and Dani the biggest piece advice she was given in med school – one that still sticks with her to this day.
