Summary
In this episode, I talk to Deanna Doane, an avid trail runner, who shares her love for running and her experiences in endurance sports. She discusses her passion for the outdoors, nature, and exploring beautiful places on foot. Deanna started running in high school and fell in love with the sense of freedom and meditation it provided. She gradually transitioned to trail running and has since taken on challenging races in the mountains. Deanna recently completed the Never Summer 100K race in Colorado, which tested her endurance and resilience. While she is out on the other coast learning about elevation training and getting some epic runs in, Deanna is ready to come on to tackle her next big goal. She will be attempting the women's self-supported Fastest Known Time (FKT) on the Florida Trail in the February of 2025. Deanna Doane is planning to attempt the Fastest Known Time (FKT) on the Florida Trail, a 1,108-mile trail that traverses diverse ecosystems and historic sites. Her motivation is to challenge herself and push her physical and mental limits. She wants to see how far she can push her body and experience every possible human emotion. Deanna aims to complete the trail in 21 days or less, beating the current men's supported FKT. She is also tackling this FKT to raise awareness for the Florida Trail and encourage more people to get involved with the Florida Trail Association.
