101. Productivity’s BAD Reputation...

What do you think of when you hear the word "productivity?"

For many, productivity gets a bad reputation. It just sounds "icky." It's a buzz word we all use to promote our hustle culture. There's a time and place for hustle, but I'm here to share that the hustle (except for my favorite 70's disco) is not sustainable long term.

So instead, I've recently started to talk about "healthy productivity."

In today's episode, I'm defining "healthy productivity" and sharing what it feels like. No bad reputation here! (And with that, I'm now listening to Taylor Swift's Reputation album...love.).

Healthy Productivity looks and feels like...

  • Not feeling addicted to working
  • Accomplishing your intentional focus
  • The tasks you did move your work forward so you know it was the right intention (even if it fails or you learn something)
  • You find internal gratitude and excitement for what you’re doing vs. seeking applause or praise to stay motivated
  • You come up with new ideas for improving the work or doing it different or more efficiently. You keep innovating and continuously improving
  • You’re excited when you sit down to work
  • You feel pulled or drawn to the work

    • If you don’t feel these things..Unhealthy Productivity may be a result of...

    • Alignment issues - Is this the right work right now
    • Values issue - Is this counter to my ethics, morals, or maybe I don't understand or agree with the "why" behind the work
    • Tired or burned out and need a break or space from the work
    • Pushed to the work, no internal motivation
    • Too much work and your energy is spread too thin
