This week’s guest is my friend, Kara Lazauskas.

Kara’s story is nothing short of badass, threaded with resiliency and perseverance.

At the young age of 3, she had her left lung removed due to a tumor. She contests that her love for human anatomy and physiology was born from that moment. With Kara’s strong body’s adaptability and continuous push, both mentally and physically, her athletism in high school was so strong, that she received a scholarship to play basketball at the NCAA level.

Her basketball career came to a close with 4 ACL reconstructions in her right knee, forcing her to find a new path + really discover who she is outside of competitive sports. This quest brought her to graduate school where she obtained her Master's in muscle physiology under Dr. Andy Galpin and Dr. Irene Tobias studying Muscle Fiber Typing and Protein Signaling at California State University-Fullerton.

Today Kara serves as a coach, mentor, and soon-to-be author who empowers others to move through their pain to find new strength in their performance. What I love most about this episode is Kara’s immense vulnerability, harmonized with strength. We dive deep into the essence of who she is and how she came to be that goes beyond the surface of credentials and achievements.
