Trauma-informed therapists get dysregulated (super-stressed out) too! In this episode, I teach you what dysregulation is and how to tap into your mental health toolbox and find your way back to balance.
The morning of recording, I woke up feeling confused, upset, and weak. After a lot of reflection, I realized I was feeling dysregulated from:
1. Pushing out of my comfort zone a lot lately
2. Sress from my kid being sick, and
3. Feeling exposed to being seen in my mess.
I realized that the key to feeling regulated is to harness my thoughts, breathe deeply, and take small steps to take care of myself. I took a shower, went for a walk, and talked to a friend. With these steps, I felt clear-headed and ready to tackle the day.
