403.5 Bonus Episode: Happy Birthday to Make Some Noise!

Listen Later

I have a very special bonus episode for you today because today is the publication day (aka birthday) of my third book, Make Some Noise: Speak Your Mind and Own Your Strength. šŸŽ‰

As my book is released to the world, I've been thinking a lot about legacy. As an author and with this book in particular, the dedication is to my daughter, Sydney and my mother and to her mother and her mother and her mother.

I dedicated it to them because they are the most important women in my life and part of my legacy. And I’ve been thinking about what I am going to leave behind when I’m no longer earthside.

The biggest, most important thing that we put meaning on is our own life. What's it all for? I think that the reason that we are here and the biggest part of our legacy is the relationships that we have with the people in our life.

I've told you all the story about when my life completely fell apart in 2006. And it was the first time I had so much clarity amidst all the drama. And I thought, how did I get here? And then a realization that this was not where I was meant to be.Ā

That was the moment I decided to change my life. It was not linear. It was not perfect. It was 15 years ago and there's been a lot of ups and downs. There's been a lot of hard conversations with myself and with other people. And I can tell you most definitely that I've truly never been more grateful for anything in my life because it takes intention and total consciousness to make changes.

It is things like speaking your mind, owning your strength, making noise, speaking up for yourself.Ā

It’s giving an opinion and learning how to set boundaries.Ā

Making noise is understanding what your values are and acting on them.Ā

It’s getting help for any addictions that you have.

It’s going to therapy and getting really honest with yourself and your therapist.Ā

Making noise is doing any kind of trauma therapy that you might need digging into your family of origin, looking at the habits and behaviors that you have, and getting really curious about them, instead of beating yourself up about them.

I mostly talk to women and write books for them, so all of that is an act of making noise. Women's empowerment is an act of rebellion because we are pushing up against the cultural norms, standards, programming, and socialization that we've all received. Learning, growing, and the relationships we create along the way are part of the legacy we leave.Ā

I am so excited to share the release of Make Some Noise with this wonderful community. It’s time to make some noise, speak your mind, and own your strength.Ā
