Samukele is a self-described recovering overachiever and people pleaser. She spent a large part of her life pouring herself into projects and others, but not herself.

At the beginning of 2020, her ways started to catch up to her, and her overworking ways took a toll on her body. As her health started to become a concern, Samukele had to let go of her additional commitments in order to focus on herself for the first time.

As her energy slowly returned, she ended up finding so much peace in nature and had the time to really observe the world around her. Never a writer or a poet before, Samukele began to channel her energy into writing. She didn’t start off with the goal of writing a book, but taking walks and observing nature started to heal Samukele from the inside out.
