It's a podcast within a podcast! The episode you're abut to hear is actually an episode of Thriving Solo by Jennifer Fields, who was kind enough to invite me (your host, Shani Silver, hi) on as a guest! In this episode we get into so, SO many tired and nonsensical narratives about single life that are ripe for reframing. This is a great listen and reminder as we celebrate the holiday season, and prepare for a new year ahead.
Please check out lots more from Jennifer Fields and Thriving Solo here!

Debra DiGiovanni, oh my god. This Canadian comedian and all around ray of light has been admired by your host since the release of her Netflix special, Single Award Female. Her warmth, authenticity, and of course humor are a welcome addition to the podcast this week, as we discuss the themes that have impacted us so much during this dumpster blaze of a year. From work upheavals to discovering what it's like to be alone, no for real this time, this is an episode for anyone who's spent 2020 single, and wants to wrap up the year with feelings of gratitude and love. Also if you enjoy laughing, press play.

Beginning January 1st 2021, the following changes are happening to the A Single Serving Podcast community:
I set the new Facebook group and podcast episode access at $5 per month because I wanted this new community to be an affordable investment in the way we feel about our own singleness each month. I believe all women (especially single ones!) should be fairly compensated for their work, and I include myself in that belief. These changes will ensure that I’m able to devote much more of my time to creating content for you and to changing the negative narratives around being single. There are SO many things I want to do and create, but I am currently maxed out at what I’m able to manage without a paid community structure in place.

Tiana Madera is the host of Torch, a personal development podcast about how we lead—both others AND ourselves. She's a remarkable voice to listen to if you're in a space of growth and self work, and it's a pleasure to have her on the podcast today. A quick Content Warning: Tiana and I both discuss body and weight as we've experienced anxieties and concerns around them, our experiences come from our perspectives as individuals, we're not giving prescriptive advice on body image, we are instead discussing our own process. In addition to that, expect to hear us talk about our perspectives on singlehood happiness, jealousy, finance a little bit (!), and the self work we've both done and continue to do that we've found productive and positive as we move through our lives and careers.

Jessica Lanyadoo is an astrologer, podcaster, writer, and co-founder of Zodiac the Vote. She's also one of your host's favorite voices in the astrology space, so pardon her while she fangirls. This episode is a discussion of astrology that's unlike what you're probably used to hearing on podcasts. We're not talking horoscopes, we're talking narratives, specifically the narratives we've picked up around astrology and singlehood. In exploring the origins of those narratives, we can get more clarity on how we choose to consume and interact with astrology, and we can discover diverse voices in the space that give us a more comprehensive look at astrology overall.

Niccole Thurman is an actress, writer, and all-around hilarious person your host is very lucky to be speaking with this week. Niccole's honesty and humor are such a welcome addition to the podcast, and in this episode we'll get into some very real talk around the things that are often said to and about single women. If you need to relax for an hour and feel like you're having a conversation with girlfriends on a chaise lounge somewhere, you've come to the right podcast.

Solo episode! In this episode, your host Shani Silver will get into changing narratives around a few specific singlehood moments including window shopping (those people who don't want to date you but view every single one of your Instagram stories) and wrongness (the feeling of always being somehow wrong and in need of change or fixing in order to be worthy of love). Lots of reframing advice and some VERY real words for anyone currently settling from scraps (I said it) of attention.

"The human experience is both profoundly simple and incredibly complicated." - Leisse Wilcox is a Transformational Mindset + Success Coach, changing the conversation on emotional health & self-love. She joins the podcast this week to discuss neurolinguistic programming, or NLP, and its role in our story. This is such a good listen for anyone who has no idea why patterns keep repeating, why moving forward and moving on can be so hard, why changing our thoughts can be challenging—basically if you're human and you're alive, press play.

Jessica Noah Morgan is a brilliant writer based in the UK who gets it. She gets that a lot of the single programming we've picked up over the years is total bullsh*t, and neither she nor your host are in the mood to participate in it any longer. Join us for a chat that feels like meeting friends for wine, back when that was a thing that was totally okay to do. Other topics include: the singles tables at weddings (no thanks), egg freezing money (what else can we spend it on?), heart shaped pizzas (why?), and so much more.
