ADHD IS OVER! episodes

  • Episode 20 - Ian turned out.
IAN TURNED OUT is another perfect example of a young adult, Ian who was diagnosed and medicated as a child and ended up self-medicating with drugs and almost committing suicide. Luckily, he turned his life around and got himself off of the stimulant drugs that were leading him towards darkness.
The notion that unmedicated children with ADHD will self-medicate later in life is simply a made-up narrative that doesn't hold up when it comes to the latest scientific evidence.
Many parents are intimidated by teachers, principles, and doctors alike with this fable of doom. It's gotta stop!
Listen to Ian and you will hear for yourself, yet again, that if children with adverse childhood experiences in life are 'sedated' with stimulant medication, they will more likely end up facing trouble than children who were not medicated.

  • Episode 19 - Where are the Fathers?
WHERE ARE THE FATHERS is a deep exploration of the notion that fatherless households majorly impact a child's experience of the world, his or her environment, and himself or herself. Most of the time, divorces are not peaceful and conscious and the children end up in the crosshairs of two angry parents, unintentionally dragged into the drama, ultimately creating family trauma that creates in a child the behaviors we then call symptoms and label them as a disorder know as 'ADHD'.
If you're a father of a child diagnosed with ADHD, please listen to this podcast carefully as we as men have a duty, a responsibitlity to be there for our kids... NO MATTER WHAT!
Our absences in our children's lives are creating much of the 'disorder' in our world today. We can do better than that. We can start today. We can stop running now!
Fathers, join me on this movement to end ADHD by putting a stake in the ground as confident, grounded, and masculine role models full of certainty about life!

  • Episode 18 - Mad in America.
MAD IN AMERICA is a powerful episode that aims to debunk the most common misconceptions around ADHD (it's a brain disorder, it's genetic, it's due to a chemical imbalance, Medication is the most effective treatment, etc.)with the help of Robert Whitaker.
We also discussed the Russell Barkley lead 2002 'Global ADHD Consensus' and how misleading and incomplete the paper was.
Whitaker is an American journalist and author, writing primarily about medicine, science, and history. He is the author of five books, three of which cover the history or practice of modern psychiatry. He has won numerous awards for science writing, and in 1998 he was part of a team writing for the Boston Globe that was shortlisted for the 1999 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for a series of articles questioning the ethics of psychiatric research in which unsuspecting patients were given drugs expected to heighten their psychosis. He is the founder and publisher of Mad in America, a webzine critical of the modern psychiatric establishment.

  • Episode 17 - Why Impulsivity matters.
WHY IMPULSIVITY MATTERS is a delicate and textured download around impulsivity. We've all heard it before: "He's so impulsive." As if it was a bad thing. Even when we diagnose children with mental disorders such as ADHD, impulsivity is listed as one of the symptoms of this so-called 'brain disorder'.
But if we have it all wrong? What if Impulsivity is actually a needed skill to hone our own intuition? What will happen if we keep sedating our children's impulsivity with stimulant medication? Can an adult who was medicated as a child properly use their intuition?
Listen in and see if you resonate with what I channeled here in this episode.

  • Episode 15 - Andy turned out.
ANDY TURNED OUT is an episode with Andrew Parry who was medicated as a child for ADHD, suggested by his school counselor at the time.
Novartis, the maker of Ritalin had distributed brochures to the schools in the area promoting Ritalin as '...making kids normal again'. Andrew's mother Sue Parry (Episode 10 - Saving Andy) decided to take Andy off of the prescribed medication when he started to have severe side effects.
In this episode, Andrew shares his experience growing up with having been labeled with ADHD and medicated with the stimulant drug Ritalin.
Today, Andrew is a successful entrepreneur and is the founder of the Seattle Pomade Company as well as the co-founder of Resonant Botanicals. He also loves to cook and he has recently gotten engaged.
In short: Andy turned out, didn't he!

  • Episode 14 - Paying for Attention.
PAYING FOR ATTENTION is an episode with Consciousness Catalyst de Vie, a deep dive into the meaning of attention, focus, concentration and most of all what it means to 'pay attention'.
In the world of ADHD, we are said to have a deficit of attention. It seems to be a currency that each child owns and can give freely. But what makes a child not want to give attention? And what if that child perhaps also doesn't receive the kind of attention they need from their parents, teachers and other authority figures?
Could it be that we've been giving away our attention to people, organizations, platforms and so-called beliefs and truths without actually consciously choosing to do so?
Perhaps it's time to start the 'Attention Liberation Movement' and for all of us to claim not only our sovereignty but also to take back our attention and start over.
So, if you have chosen to listen to this episode, we say a big THANK YOU for giving us your attention!

  • Episode 13 - Hunters in a Farmer's World.
HUNTERS IN A FARMER'S WORLD is a powerful episode with my friend and very special guest Thom Hartmann, an American radio personality, author, former psychotherapist, businessman, and progressive political commentator.
In the ADHD world, Thom famously authored "ADD - A Different Perception") and is the creator (proposed by him in 1978, published in 1992) of the Hunter vs. Farmer hypothesis, saying AD[H]D is an expected evolutionary adaptation to hunting lifestyles.
Thom proposes that these individuals have the ability of rapidly shifting their focus and external attention, and holding multiple trains of thought. This ability causes difficulties as they live and work in cultures in which "farming" — planned, predictable, organized, repetitive behaviors — is typical. Thom has also established specialized schools for children with ADHD, such as The Hunter School in Rumney, New Hampshire, which he co-founded with his wife Louise.

  • Episode 12 - Special Ed(ward).
JUDGED & BULLIED is a beautiful conversation about the challenging childhood of our guest Edward Zepeda Menchavez Jr aka Ejay, who was diagnosed, labeled, and medicated as a child.
Ejay has since peeled off the label, joined the armed forces, fought in Afghanistan, graduated from college, and created a wonderful business that supports children and youth! He is all around an exemplary young man who's committed to making a difference with children and families.

  • Episode 11 - ADHD & Covid 19.
ADHD & COVID 19 is multi-fold episode about a recent Isrealy study that claims that unmedicated children with ADHD are more likely to get Covid 19. I decided to analyze what could be behind this PR stunt that's clearly unfounded (in a future episode we'll have Israeli research scientist Yaakov Ophir, Ph.D. on our show to debunk it based on real science - air date TBD).
Once we got the the bottom of the emotions behind this campaign - fear - I decided to turn the episode into a letter to my sons Etienne (8) and Khai (11) and share with them what they can count on from their parents and what they need to be aware of out in the world as they grow up to become young men!
We hope you enjoy this episode and stay tuned for more amazing episodes, including Thom Hartmann in early September and Gabor Maté in October!
