Narcissists and Age-Gap in Relationships plus Q&A - Narcissists often have a preference for younger partners. This is because they view them as status-enhancers and easier to control and enhance their own status. Age-gap relationships may also occur when one partner has money or other resources that can be used to control the relationship. This is a problem because narcissists can be highly charming, manipulative, and persuasive.
Mental health research has also shown that people with narcissistic personalities, narcissistic personality disorder or cluster b traits are more likely than others to seek out older partners. The authors of the study suggested that narcissists and even the covert narcissist might be attracted to older people because they’re more likely to have more money or status and therefore enhance his or her own self-image.

Narcissists and Aging - It gets worse! Here's What You Need to Know. What happens when narcissists get older? Will they mellow out? Not likely. What if they lose their ability to actually attain supply the way they used to?
I am often asked about how aging narcissists (or older narcissists) are different from younger narcissists. While narcissistic personality disorder never goes away, just like everyone else, the narcissist will experience many changes that come with age.
These changes include things like a diminishing drive for intimacy and other typical things everyone deals with as they get older.
But for the narcissist, things like less ability to obtain narcissistic supply, loss of friends or family members, and the loss of status or reputation can cause narcissistic collapse.
If aging gets in the way of the supply a narcissist is getting, they can become quite angry, vicious, and nasty. As a result, many aging narcissists isolate themselves as they grow older.
What happens when their primary sources of narcissistic supply no longer want to be a part of their life? How do they cope? How do you manage?

Brain Fog from Toxic Relationships: The Science and Ways You Can Help Yourself How can your brain feel so foggy after a relationship with a toxic person? Brain fog is a difficult and confusing experience to live through, and it is one that is poorly understood by most people.
It's a common problem for survivors of narcissists in toxic relationships, yet one that many don't talk about...much less understand. Brain fog presents itself in different ways for different people. Some feel just stuck and unable to function. Others feel like they're watching their lives through a movie screen or like they're in some kind of bubble that makes them feel like they're not really here, or like they're separated from everyone else, Angie Atkinson explains.
When you realize that you have been gaslighted by a narcissist for many years and wonder why your health problems are getting worse, or why you are experiencing brain fog, that is because of the trauma from the abuse. Brain fog, depression, and anxiety are just a few of the mental health issues associated with C-PTSD (. These symptoms are caused by childhood trauma, abuse, and neglect. There is hope… even if you have severe brain fog and other illnesses related to the disorder.
The brain fog that many of us experience after a narcissistic relationship is one of the many symptoms of CPTSD. Brain fog is an impairment in a person’s ability to process information, think clearly, and make good decisions. You may feel like you’re in a mental fog or daze most days or have difficulty remembering what you were just thinking about. This can go hand-in-hand with the memory problems experienced with PTSD, especially if the abuse you experienced was not physical but psychological.

Narcissists: Are they the drug or are they the addict in the toxic relationship? Narcissistic Supply, to the narcissist, is like a drug. It's what the narcissist needs to feed their ego (and in so many ways, to maintain the facade they're showing to the rest of the world and avoid becoming a collapsed narcissist.)
Narcissists (someone who either has narcissistic personality disorder - NPD - or who has narcissistic traits) obtain this 'drug' (narcissistic supply) in different ways, one of them being through their one-sided relationships.
Yes, that's where you come in.
You see, when we love someone or in this case, let's say care for someone so deeply that we want to help and support them no matter what- we are willing to go through any hardship for them. This is true no matter how it affects our mental health.
But for the narcissist, it's not about love, it's about using you to get what they want - because, in so many ways, you've become their drug of choice. And narcissists keep you emotionally trapped! But that's not all.
If a source of narcissistic supply stops supplying the narcissist with narcissistic supply- that's when things get ugly. The narcissist becomes not only hostile but also an addict who will destroy you and everything around you in order to get his next hit of 'narcissistic supply.'
