Sexual trauma can be caused by an array of experiences: if an event or events cause an overwhelm related to the charge of sexuality, it could potentially be a traumatizing experience.

Luis discusses:

• the potential origins of sexual trauma
• how sexual fawning can be traumatizing, even with a "safe" partner
• how pleasure can become overcoupled  with shame, embarrassment, disgust, fear, or panic
• the origins of our kinks and fetishes

The beauty of somatics is that we don’t need to know cognitively what is happening, or what happened, to heal from a traumatizing experience.
