You’re listening to the Build That Business podcast, episode 43. Today, we’re covering something that isn’t always fun to talk about but so important - challenging client situations. And we have ALL been there, no matter how bad we want to forget.
Raise your hand if you’ve had a client who insists on texting you at all hours of the evening, no matter how hard to try to enforce boundaries. Or maybe you’ve been in a situation where the client is the sweetest person in the world, but everything seems to be so chaotic as you work together (does the word deadline mean anything to you?!). OR maybe you actually disappointed a client, hey we’re human after all. Today, we’re pulling back the curtain and talking about all of it.
My hand is raised too, and maybe I’ve got a few other limbs in the air too. Because after over 1500 weddings under my belt, I’ve seen it all and I’ve learned a thing or two on how to handle these sticky situations. Ready for some real talk? Let’s get into it…

You’re listening to the Build That Business podcast, episode 41.
I don’t know if anyone listening can relate to this - but when I first started my business I constantly looked at what the competition was doing. I built my website just like theirs, I chose my brand colors to look similar to theirs. I used language like, ‘We’ or ‘Our team of experts' to make me look bigger than I was so that I could be in the same league as the big wedding stationery companies.
Can anyone relate to this? Or maybe you’re following a bunch of your competitors and you’re getting ideas from there? They’re doing instagram reels so you need to do reels. They’re offering a certain type of service, so maybe that’s something you should offer? I know I’m not alone here.
So today, we're NOT going to talk about how to compare yourself to your competition, we’re not going to talk about how to get ahead, or how to be better than them. We're going to go a step above all of that … we’re going to cover how to make the competition totally irrelevant. We’re going to open up a whole new dimension to your business and a new way of thinking about your marketing. Get ready to blow your mind.

(How I 10x'd My Wedding Stationery Business - $30k to $300k)
Welcome to the Build That Business podcast, episode number 37. Today is going to be a short episode, because we’re talking about the importance of taking a creative break and I’m going to practice what I preach.
I know that being an entrepreneur can bring along stressors. From family obligations to juggling your client’s needs, to growing your business, to that little voice in the back of your head reminding you of all of the things you need to be doing. And trust me I get it, It’s kind of stressful isn’t it? You set out to start your own business for freedom, it’s supposed to be rewarding, inspiring and fun - and yet, we feel overwhelmed, and we feel isolated, we feel guilty that this life is what we wanted but we’re still not happy all the time.
I know for me it feels so chaotic, being a mom of a toddler, running a business - it sometimes feels like everything's on fire all the time and you’re just running from one thing to the next (can you relate). To me it’s like, “can I just get a minute to think about what the heck I’m doing?” So, that’s all I wanted to do in this episode - is just give you permission to take a minute. Will you take a deep breath with me and recognize the value of stepping back and strategically planning what we're doing? Isn't it funny how we forget this stuff? We forget to pause, plan, think. We think there’s no time for it but in reality this is the most important thing you can do for your business.
So press play on this episode and let's give ourselves permission to pause...

Welcome to The Build That business podcast, episode number 36.
Today we are talking about how to control the chaos and leave your couples breathless (in the best way). I have the honor of sitting down with the one and only Gabby Chapin, a wedding photographer and educator and the perfect person to walk us through this. Gabby is going to teach us how she quietly coaches and prepares her couples for their sessions and wedding days. This episode is one of my favorites I’ve ever done. It’s the perfect kick off to this wedding season and packed full of useful tips that we can take with us as we dive into our 2022 season and hopefully a new normal in the wedding industry. So without future ado, let's dive into the episode!
In today's episode, we'll cover:
1. So today we’re going to be talking about controlling the chaos. And, this topic has a very different meaning after the hell of a year we’ve all been through as wedding professionals. I see a common thread that we’re all just really burnt out. What advice would you give to a wedding pro listening to this who feels like the wheels have totally fallen off the bus this year? Dates postponed, details changing, couples on edge… how to regain some of that control and order in your business?
2. What's the single most important thing you do, BEFORE the wedding day, to promote a smooth flow of events?
3. How do you get clients to give you what you need to perform to the best of your abilities?
4. How do you communicate what your boundaries are with your clients?
5. When clients toe the line of your set boundaries, what do you do to guide them back into your higher functioning zone?

What if the most important investment you ever made in your business had nothing to do with your business?
Build That Business is the podcast for the entrepreneur who is done playing…
Every week we talk sales, strategy, and data... all of it. But we also talk about the human behind the business. The mindset, the nervous system, the version of you that has to grow alongside the strategies or none of it works.
Because here's what Lindsay knows for sure: you are not just building a business. You are becoming someone who can hold it.
Less than 2% of women-owned businesses ever hit a million dollars. We're changing that. The business you want already exists. The life you want already exists. The question is whether the version of you running it right now is ready for it.
She is. Let's build.
