I've watched women turn from shy caterpillars into beautiful butterflies through the Courage Driven Latina program. That definitely describes this week's guest, who went from being a "total money nerd" to a money coach with her own business, podcast, and a feature in Entrepreneur magazine.
Sunem Tovar, a Latina Money Coach, is passionate about empowering women of color and people of color to get their money right. Being the only Latina in her Master in Finance program led Sunem to become increasingly frustrated with how inaccessible wealth building is for communities of color, especially for women and femmes of color. Sunem has been able to channel this frustration by building wealth herself as a woman of color and by also educating her family on how to build wealth. Now, she's committed to helping other women of color build strong financial foundations.
In this week's episode, Sunem talks about her experience, working through the Courage Driven Latina project and taking courageous action to improve her life. She talks about getting over her imposter syndrome, negotiating for better working conditions at her job, and eventually starting her own money-coaching business with her brother. Check out The Money Noticias Podcast here.

Sometimes our resiliency is all we have. This week's guest shows us that no matter what happens we have to have our own back. We can be our own superheroes as long as we keep fighting for the life we deserve.
Natalie Nunez, a dynamic and empowering coach, is dedicated to igniting transformation in her clients – whether guiding them in finding purpose, launching a business, or up-leveling their careers. Rooted in a deep understanding of challenges faced by Latinas and first-generation professionals, Natalie's coaching is fueled by her own growth and empowerment. Her personal journey encompasses rising above loss, heart disease, corporate imposter syndrome, and now working mom struggles, equipping her to connect with others authentically. In bringing her full self into her business, she also brings expertise and knowledge gained from working in marketing, partnerships, and small business coaching at Fortune 500 companies like Google, YouTube Music, Deloitte, and Twitter.
At her core, Natalie is a loving wife, soon-to-be mother, and loyal friend. With a love for humor, design, nature, and dogs and a passion for personal development, she is always eager to make those around her feel confident, heard, and empowered.
In this week's episode, Natalie tells us all about her incredible story of strength and resilience. After her mother suddenly passed from heart disease, she had to assume the stereotypical gender role for women in the family and start cooking and cleaning for her brothers and her father. When she got older and joined the corporate world of marketing she became affected by the same heart disease and started to affect her work. From there, she started her search to find solutions and work with her body rather than against it. Then she started looking for solutions to solve her career problems the same way she had solved her health problems. A few years later she was laid off from Google and decided to pivot towards coaching women and helping them transform their lives just as she had.

Most financial educators do not look like us, they do not have the same problems, and they do not share our culture. That's why this week, we're introducing you to my good friend, Gigi Gonazález. Gigi is a financial educator who knows what it's like to be a first-gen Latina and build wealth with our circumstances in mind.
Giovanna "Gigi" Gonzalez is a TikTok influencer, financial educator, and author of Cultura and Cash. During The Great Resignation, she quit her 10 year corporate career to pursue her true passion: teaching financial literacy to young adults. Gigi teaches personal finance and career navigation for First Gen at various organizations and on her TikTok account @thefirstgenmentor. She was named 40 under 40 by the Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement, "Latinx to Watch" by Hispanic Executive Magazine, and Top 25 Creator by Fast Company. In her free time, she likes to catch up with her favorite reality TV shows and cuddle with her dog, Bailey.
In this week's episode, Gigi tells us how her book is revolutionizing financial education for first-gen Latinx. Because our cultural context is an important part of our financial journey. It influences our goals and mindsets and gives us the information we need to build wealth for us and for our community. Tune in to hear more about Gigi's incredible story and her new book Cultura and Cash.

TW: miscarriage, infant loss, familial loss
Advocating for yourself is not easy, especially when you don't have all the answers. And even though it's hard, our guest has taught us that the only way out of a tough situation is to face it head-on and go through it.
Janet Guadalupe Martinez Aguilar, also known as Flaka G, has had an incredible life that has been a remarkable tapestry of triumphs and challenges, woven together with threads of determination, love, and faith. Born in the vibrant heart of Mexico City, she and her family embarked on a journey and she arrived in the United States at the age of 5 years old. Since then, she worked hard to be a beacon of hope for her family, community, and anyone who crosses her path. She has been married for 7 years, she has a 4-year-old who is autistic and an angel baby. She worked as an HR professional for a decade, a non-profit co-founder, a progressive church catechist, and an active mentor in her sorority as our Central Alumnae regional director. Now, she is focusing on changing the world one person at a time as a Career Coach.
In this week's episode, Flaka tells us how exactly she became confident enough to advocate for herself and speak up in any situation. Flaka has gone through an immense amount of grief in the last few years. So when she suffered a miscarriage, something that was not talked about in her community, she found herself looking for resources that weren't readily available to her. And because she had to figure this out on her own, she is now an advocate for everyone around her including women, undocumented immigrants, and members of her community.

Community has been at the center of my business since I've started it. That's why I'm so glad this week's guest is the person who inspired me to invest in my community in the first place. This week's we're speaking to the amazing, Ana Flores!
A community builder and soul-centered entrepreneur, Ana Flores is living her passion as the founder of #WeAllGrow Latina, a 100% Latina-owned and operated community-driven media and events ecosystem founded in 2010 with a mission of connecting and fueling the entrepreneurial spirit of Latinas. Born in Houston, Texas, raised in El Salvador, Ana is now settled in Los Angeles, where she lives with her daughter and lives every day by the now infamous phrase she coined 13 years ago: "When one grows, we all grow."

Following her soul whisper was the push she needed to create #WeAllGrow Latina and start this incredible journey of democratizing our voices.
