Her previous books include The Jewish Kitchen (2003), Cucina Siciliana (2004), The Spanish Kitchen (2006), and Oranges: A Global History (2013). She also writes regularly for Food and Travel Magazine. Based in Manchester, she is a former vice-president of the UK Guild of Food Writers, and has twice won the Glenfiddich Food Writer of the Year Award. 

Amir Sayadabdi is a Lecturer in Anthropology at Victoria University of Wellington. He is mainly interested in anthropology of food and its intersection with gender studies, migration studies, and studies of race, ethnicity, and nationalism.
