Today I want to share a simple technique with you, I use to master social situations without feeling overwhelmed or shy anymore!
Suddenly you are at the centre of a conversation and your biggest nightmare comes true: you don't know what to say and want to sink into the ground. How uncomfortable!
Or you have an important conversation at work, but you don't feel up to it. Especially when the ears and eyes of your superiors are on you.
There are many examples of situations that can be overwhelming and in which especially less social people feel very shy.
How helpful would a simple guideline be, that could give you support and security in such situations?
Luckily, I have this little guide for you to help you feel more confident and secure in social interactions.
So step 0 is always the foundation: because your mind is always thinking about what could go wrong, get into the situation that seems uncomfortable as soon as possible and then go through the following 3 steps:
Step 1: Smile. If you are afraid of the social situation, smiling can feel counterintuitive. Try it anyway.
Step 2: Start the conversation situationally: In some situations, you don't have to be the one to start the conversation, but remember that you are in control when you open the conversation. This gives you confidence and the feeling of security.
Step 3: This is always the secret sauce for me: BE CALM! Once you've made the conversation starter with a smile on your face, keep calm and stay present. Breathe calmly.
