In light of the tragic murder of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man killed by four Minneapolis police officers, Emma and Julie wanted to devote this week's episode to a very important discussion. They first spoke about the murder, and how it cannot be seen as an isolated incident, but rather a statement as to the prevalence of racial injustice and police brutality - disproportionately against black people - in our country. They then brought on Sierra Pannell, a 23-year-old young black woman, to engage in an impactful conversation. While they recognize it is not the job of black people to educate anyone, Emma and Julie firmly believe in the concept of giving space to those voices that aren't always heard. As you'll hear in the episode, they got to know Sierra back in February, and it was an honor to be able to share their platform with her. Emma and Julie then engaged in a conversation on white privilege, their experience in educating themselves on it, and how they can continue to learn more. The episode concluded with a passage reading from 'White Fragility.'
