In this episode, I have my friend Brandi Gilstrap (SP Enneagram 6) as a guest. Brandi has had a lifetime of experience dealing with chaos, pain, hurt, and hiding behind it all. Her mission in this life is to help free people from the behaviors and habits that have kept them stuck and unfulfilled, to teach new behaviors of caring for yourself and to watch you grow into all you were born to be. Brandi and I discuss her experience of discovering her Enneagram type and what it meant for her. We explore the challenges of integrating this understanding into real-life situations, particularly in the corporate and business world. Brandi shares her personal journey of feeling seen and understood as an Enneagram 6 and navigating her relationship with her brother, who is an Enneagram 8.

We talk about how 6’s constantly seek out more tasks and responsibilities and that this constant busy-ness is driven by their stressor number. However, it is this constant doing that actually creates more chaos and doubt for sixes and their growth and development require them to slow down and not constantly seek out more tasks. Acknowledging that slowing down and not doing can be challenging for 6’ and we talk about the resistance to sitting in the discomfort of not having something to do.

It is so important to access your own soul and develop a deep level of self-awareness in order to truly integrate and make progress. No amount of strategy will be effective if you cannot access your own soul at the deepest level. The real work is slowing down and getting to know yourself, which involves awareness, acknowledgement, and compassionate action. This process of self-awareness and self-reflection is the foundation for integration.
