EP391: 4 Enneagram 8's walk onto an island together - The power of surrender and understanding the vulnerable parts of your type and tritype

In this episode, I reflect on a transformative trip I took with a group of seven other women to a small island in Mexico. This journey was a follow-up to last week's discussion about the importance of support and love in our lives, and it turned out to be a profound experience of vulnerability and growth for me.

As an Enneagram 8, known for seeking power and control within a group, I consciously approached this trip with the intention to receive as much as to give. Surrounded by four other Enneagram 8s, two Enneagram 2s, one Enneagram 7, and one Enneagram 5, I found myself in a dynamic where, despite our intense and assertive nature, none of the 8s felt the need to take over. This was a testament to the trust we had in each other and the leadership of our Enneagram 7 friend who planned the trip.

Each of us brought different tri-types to the table, which influenced our interactions and personal growth. Despite our shared motivations for independence, autonomy, and control, we each displayed our unique ways of dealing with anger and leveraging our heart and thinking centers of intelligence.

During the trip, I was particularly mindful of not falling into my usual role of the rescuer, allowing myself to be vulnerable and open to receiving support. This was challenging, especially given my past experiences with betrayal and hurt from other women. However, I was determined not to let my spiritual gifts block my own blessings.
