Amy Jo is a wife, mother, small business owner, health coach, and college English professor.
She and her husband Rush have been married for 27 years and have enjoyed being empty nesters since their son married three years ago.
Six years ago, enjoying life and keeping up with her many responsibilities was overwhelming. She was ballooning back up to her all-time highest weight of 300 pounds and suffering from debilitating nerve pain from a hip injury that led to labral repair surgery in December of 2016.
Morbidly obese her entire adult life, she gave IF a try in January 2020 after two coworkers had been doing a version of it through a program sponsored by their school’s insurance.
The rest, as they say, is history. Since IF day one on January 6, 2020, Amy Jo has lost about 90 pounds and is no longer in chronic pain or taking the strong meds that helped her merely function daily. She is also finding balance after losing her Mom and entering menopause in 2023.
Even with a bit of weight gain, the clean fast remains her one non-negotiable ingredient for maintaining a healthy intermittent fasting lifestyle.
Sarah Kull is a New Zealand RegisteredNurse. She has been working with intermittent fasting for many of herclients since early 2018, in particular, to support those with Type 2 Diabetesor obesity related health concerns.
Sarah has been working in GeneralPractice for over 20 years and as such has a background in chroniccare management and diabetes as well as the many health risks associated withobesity. With a growing epidemic of type 2 diabetes and obesity relatedhealth issues in NZ, Sarah was looking at alternatives to the old “calories invs calories out” advice that has not made an impact on global health since itsinception. She came across the work of Dr Jason Fung, a Canadian nephrologistand world leading expert on intermittent fasting for type 2 diabetics. Havingbeen taught throughout her career that type 2 diabetes is a long term, chronicdisease that worsens with time, the results from Dr Fung’s work was phenomenal.Sarah went on to look at intermittent fasting as a solution to New Zealand’sgrowing crisis and so spent time researching and learning about fasting as anoption in her work.
Now with over 6 years experience inworking with clients and intermittent fasting, Sarah not only has a fantasticknowledge base on IF, but she also has some phenomenal and life changingstories and case studies to show the incredible health benefits that come withIF. From complete reversal of type 2 diabetes, dramatic weight loss, improvement in fatty liver and blood pressure to improved sleep, wellbeing andenergy the results speak for themselves.
Sarah continues to work in a couple ofclinics in South Auckland supporting many patients to start their IF journeyand improve their health outcomes. She also runs a Facebook group withover 10000 members and growing daily as well as running courses forfasting education and support for the general public in New Zealand as well asseeing private clients.
