In this episode I am joined by Senior Paediatric Dietician, mother of 3 and founder of weaning.ie Cathy Monaghan to talk about the realities of family food.
Weaning can be fun, messy and an anxious time as parents try to follow the rules with a baby who has their own mind.
Cathy brings it back to basics with the reassurance we all need to hear.
Food is about connection - and the greatest thing we can serve our children at mealtimes is our undivided attention.

Here we talk to nutritionist Dr. Michelle Hone founder of The Fit Clinic to talk about why it can feel so hard to care for our own health needs as mothers - and what daily practices we can do to support ourselves - because if we fall, our family crumbles.
We talk about the power of a deep breath, how our periods are a vital sign for what’s happening within us, why we should love ourselves when we can only give 1% and how making ourselves a non negotiable is the most loving thing we can do for our families.

Sinead is joined by Aisling Brennan a paediatric nurse in Crumlin Hospital and mama to Angie (her fur baby) and Daibhí (her baby baby) with her husband 2fm’s Carl Mullan.
The end of maternity leave is full of emotions.
Excitement to reclaim our professional selves.
Sadness the time with our baby is over.
But also maybe some reflection on how tough it can be
We can often go into it thinking it’ll be all coffees and playdates but in reality it can be incredibly isolating and you can feel low and lose a part of yourself.
Supported by her public health nurse, Aisling was allowed the safe space we all need to say how she was feeling and given the treatment her mental health needed to treat everything that had gone on before and allow her to enjoy the now.
This is a much needed open and honest conversation about pre and postnatal mental health, the unsaid truths of maternity leave and how this transition in our lives is so powerful that even Angie knew Aisling needed her protection.

In this episode of everymum the podcast Sinead is joined by Katie Mugan founder of nursingmama.ie to talk about how being a mum of 4 has shaped her work, empathy and non-judgemental care for mums.
Here we talk about the challenges women face in accessing breastfeeding support, the unnecessary camps we are placed in depending upon if we breast, bottle or pump, the need to feel safe and not at risk of any criticism for the choices you make instead to champion that a well mother is the best mother a child can have.

What does a family look like?
We think it looks like love.
And this Father’s Day, everymum has a very special episode which celebrates 2 dads loving their little lady.
Mark Davidson, one half of the real dads of ireland instagram account and co-founder of kidandco.ie joins Sinead to talk about surrogacy, same sex parenting, raising a girl to see an equal world and the legal challenges parents through international surrogacy fight in Ireland to be recognised as legal parents.
We talk about the moment Izzy was born, about how their relationship was stretched and strengthened, about unsolicited advice and how dads can receive more help from friendly strangers.
This episode claps loudly for the amazing dads who are changing and challenging the old norm - the dads who love deeply, who share the work and who want to create a better more equal society for their children.
A celebration of same sex parenting and of fatherhood.
Happy Father’s Day and thank you for all that you do.

In this very special episode Sinead is joined by a mother of 2 Danielle Cullinan to talk about Angelman Syndrome - a very rare genetic disorder that her eldest daughter Clara was born with.
In this episode she takes us on an extraordinary journey to a diagnosis, connecting with other families who have a child with Angelman Syndrome, how she had her husband both found different coping strategies and their decision to have another baby.
We also talk about the realities of a severely disablied child in a society that isn’t build to support them. From being told that Clara could no longer attend creche to the chance that there will not be a school place for her either - this episode shines a light on how a young family are trying to work, parent, love and seem to have to fight for what Clara needs at every turn.

A Mother’s birth - the moment we too arrive new and vulnerable into the world.
In this episode Sinead is joined by the poet, author, doctor and mother of 2 Maria Tempany or “The Rhyming One” as you might know her on instagram about how she has turned the last few years of motherhood into words that support us through writing her poems and books.
From birthing alone in the pandemic to the sleepless nights, breastfeeding and her need to connect with women, her writing began and now supports over 13,000 of us on Instagram.
She has published two books containing a collection of her poetry and has become a leading voice for a mother’s love, a mother’s strength, the highs and the many lows.
Her words are kind but real. This isn’t all bliss. These are the hardest years of our lives. But there is magic in a mother’s love.
