In our final episode for 2022, I welcome Elle Roseby, the Managing Director of Country Road, an iconic Australian lifestyle brand with a rich heritage. 

Elle has forged a remarkable career through fostering positive, results-driven cultures with a focus on innovation and collaboration. Over 30 years, she has risen through the ranks of some of Australia’s most respected retailers, including Myer, Sportsgirl and Supré, her tenures at the latter two cementing her reputation as someone who can orchestrate a rapid brand turnaround.

Known for her ability to redefine and reposition retail brands, Elle is regularly called upon to share her expertise and insight with audiences across Australia including Inside Retail events, WGSN, Melbourne Fashion Week, women’s leadership panels and private mentoring sessions.

At Country Road, Elle has been influential in repositioning the brand as a leader in sustainable design, both in fashion and retail environments. Her guidance in this area has led to brand partnerships with Oritain and Landcare Australia in recent years, as well as the launch of Our World, a dedicated platform for Country Road to share its sustainability journey with the wider community. Under Elle’s leadership, the brand’s Chadstone flagship became the first fashion retailer in Australia to achieve a 5 Star Green Star Design Review rating with the Green Building Council of Australia.

The mother of two is passionate about community enterprises and has spearheaded initiatives through The Butterfly Foundation and collaborated with charities like Redkite, Headspace, Dignity Dreams and the Graeme Dingle Foundation. An advocate for local talent, Elle has been involved in the RMIT TRI Project and remains a committee member of the RMIT School of Fashion Industry Advisory Group. Her support for community-based projects has led to an ongoing partnership between Country Road and the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair Foundation.

Alongside these projects, Elle has inspired a culture of leading with heart at Country Road, while guiding the brand’s mission of inspiring modern Australian living every day.

Enjoy tuning into this enriching episode focused on Wellness and Mindfulness.Workplace Wellness statistics: Burnout, stress, physical health and anxiety are significant issues in the workplace...throw the pandemic's mental health impact into the mix – and business leaders now need to meet dramatically heightened needs for health and wellness support.The CSIRO conducted a study with 4,000 participants emerging from COVID-19 lockdowns feeling their exercise (66%), emotional wellbeing (41%) and diet (36%) had worsened to some degree, with two in five indicating they have gained weight during the outbreak, and 60% reporting a negative shift in their overall satisfaction with life.The Medical Journal of Australia has concluded that mental health problems were at least twice as prevalent as in non-pandemic circumstances, and one person in every five is now experiencing clinically-relevant depression symptoms.The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners has also reported 21% of Australians also said they had started drinking more alcohol - this is more than double the global average (10%).

In this episode, I chat with Emily Riggs, the Founder & Creative Director of Iris and Wool.After cancer struck, twice, Emily designed a life with purposeWhen she was just 10 years old, Emily was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.Shortly after her diagnosis, her mother lost her own cancer battle, passing away from breast cancer, aged 43.In her most difficult days, Emily found herself turning to fashion for comfort and to express her creative flair.Years later, Emily found love with Tom, a fifth-generation merino sheep farmer. Together, their family runs 15,000 merino sheep across their 100,000 acre property in Burra, South Australia.In 2019, after welcoming two children, Emily founded Iris & Wool and finally realised her dream to design, merging her love of fashion with merino wool.‘Iris’ is in honour of her mother’s favourite flower and five percent of every sale is donated to the McGrath Foundation to provide ongoing support to people experiencing breast cancer.It’s always a special moment in time for me to witness one of our community members pursue their passion and purpose, launch their fashion business but grow and thrive!What stood out for me during this interview was that Emily shared how rewarding her business was, that it has given her a confidence that she has never felt before and shared that her business is good for her Mental Health.I was inspired by Emily’s story, her gorgeous brand Iris and Wool and her goal to go GLOBAL and share Australia’s precious merino wool worldwide and I’m sure you will be too!

I’m so excited to launch season 3 of the podcast and dive into our first episode for 2022!
So many of us have stepped into this year looking at our life through a completely different lens.
So many of my clients, colleagues, friends, and family have experienced some profound SHIFTS.
Whether that is around:- Values and the way we live our lives- Career Path- Business Direction- Passion and Purpose- Ambition and Aspirations
So in this episode, I wanted to chat about whether starting that THING – whether it’s a new job, a new business or a new adventure is for YOU!Here is a framework that has been transformational for ME and my 1:1 clients time and time again.
It’s called the .Wheel of Life
This is well known powerful development tool because it gives you a vivid visual representation of the way , compared with the way .your life is currentlyyou'd ideally like it to be
It is called the "Wheel of Life" because each area of your life is mapped on a circle, like the spoke of a wheel.
Essentially, it's:1. Snapshot of where you are now when it comes to key areas of your life2. Your level of satisfaction with where you are now - 1 being lowest – 10 at highest3. And it provides a framework to assess not only where you are now, but most importantly where you WANT TO BE and can be the catalyst for creating an action plan that is laser focused on your IDEAL life goals.
You can customise the spokes on YOUR wheel, but typically they would include key areas of your life such as:
- Health- Family- Friends- Career- Finances- Purpose- Love- Self Development- Contributions
The steps to work through this powerful process start with:
1. A Brainstorm of your Life Areas
2. Think About Your Ideal Level for Life Balance
3. Take Action!
