In this episode we deep dive into the importance of iron in female athletes with our incredible Femmi Sports Scientist, Claire Badenhorst. Claire is a Senior Lecturer in Exercise and Sport Science at Massey University and her role is focused on research, post-graduate student supervision, teaching, and serving as Major Leader of the Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Sport Science). Claire’s research to date has focused on health and wellbeing in athletes, with a particular interest in female physiology and the menstrual cycle, iron status and regulation, and low energy availability. Our guest this week is New Zealand's fastest woman, who recently broke the Oceania 100m record and ran the fastest 100m time EVER on Australian soil. Zoe Hobbs is not only an incredible athlete, but also a cofounder of a nutrition start up called Athos. Zoe is the epitome of hard work and self belief, and now holds a PB of 10.97 seconds. Zoe speaks to us about her journey as an athlete, her relationship with food and how she now focuses on her self in a holistic manner to perform at such a high level.

This year it is thought that Embrace Equity is the 2023 theme - but in actual fact the IWD theme globally led by the UN is DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality. The focus is on digital technologies contributing to gender biases and widening the economic and social inequalities for women. The UN are aiming to build a safer, more inclusive & more equitable digital future.

We personally love this theme as it is close to our heart, being a Femtech company that plays in the science and sporting space.
