Reassurance seeking is one of the most common anxiety behaviors between children and parents (and children and teachers…and between adults, too!) Offering reassurance is a short term fix but sustains the anxiety loop. This episode’s question comes from a mom who knows this well, and who was actually on an In Session episode a few years ago. Her daughter has made huge strides since then. Mom is saying the right things and staying out of the content of the worry, but both mom and daughter are still being bossed around by the Worry’s daily questioning. What’s the next step?
